Yup, it’s like they think we’ll be excited by the news of new GPU releases, when in reality it feels like they’re just dropping a deuce on our faces.
Oh well, if all else fails, they can always do another paper rerelease of the 2060, but with 18 gigabytes of vram!

You know if they flogged that thing for like, $200 it would at least be something all the poor sods on GTX 980/1060s could get and say they got a genuine upgrade in one or two ways.

GPU makers:"LOOK, THIS CARD IS REALLY COOL AND REALLY FAST!"
Me: "Can I get one at a reasonable price or time frame?"
GPU maker: "Well, no but don't you want one?"
Me: "It doesn't matter how amazing it is if it's essentially unavailable. So I really don't care"

I'm stuck with a 1060 right now and frankly I'm getting to the point where I'll take anything to replace it. The coverage I bought just ran out so I'm waiting for it to turn into a hunk of cheese.

Even a 2060 is a substantial upgrade over it but at $550 I can't possibly justify the price for a last gen card. This sucks. I hope the tax man gets it together and starts making crypto a lot less attractive soon.

Your 1060 is rated a bit higher than my RX 480 8GB but as long as it survives, it is playing most games at 1080p 60 fps. If it dies before things get somewhere near normal, I'm getting something like a 1030, dumb down my game visuals and be out about an extra $50 over normal price rather than $500 and hope that holds until things (if ever) approach normal.

I'm so glad I managed to snag an RTX2080 for Christmas 2018. Paid...shit, I don't know, Newegg won't give me the item price but the full order of a 2080, a Coolermaster HAF 912 case, a 500GB Samsung SSD and an EVGA SuperNova 850W PSU totaled up to a bit under $1600CAD. Gets a bit of a workout now that I'm using a 144Hz monitor (and I'd like to figure out a way to cool it better), but I feel like even if newer cards were available, the performance boost wouldn't be worth the price. Looking at Newegg now, base 3080s are listing at over two grand, holy fuck.

I have Christmas money, a new job, and no other things I want to spend on, all I need now is to be able to purchase the RTX 3060 and a good CPU for something actually resembling the MSRP. My GTX 1050TI mostly does the job for 1080p 60fps on high graphics settings, but given that I have to run Forza Horizon 4 on "Low" to get a reasonable framerate the design is starting to show its age a bit.

Hmm, 2080 in 2018.. Probably like $750-$900 depending on the model. But I have no idea how that translates to CAD in 2018.

My 1080TI started playing up. The screen would go black, and the GPU fans would spin up to 100%.

Looks like it was overheating, so I had to repaste the thing.

I think I was way too conservative with my thermal past application the last time I had to do this, so I was a bit more liberal with how much I applied.

Everything appears to be working now, and I reduced temps by about 10c in the process.

Remember to repaste your GPUs, guys.

It just sucks, because if it had died, I would be looking at spending at least £600 on a 3060TI for comparable performance - which is £300+ more than MSRP.

I hope my 1080TI sticks it out for at least another year or two...

I had my 2080 start to die... well, it was more a fan but the thing was only just out of warranty so EVGA swapped it, with a card that ended up being defective but the one they swapped that with has so far been better then my old card. Fans are much quieter. Kinda wish I had just swapped out those fans years ago instead of being annoyed whenever I would run something at a high fps.

Thing is, I've started to see AMD cards (primarily 6600s and 6700XTs) pop up on Best Buy's site on a semi-regular basis... but at more than double the MSRP. I'll keep waiting, thanks.

I finally saw a 3070 in the wild for the first time since the card launched.

But yes, for a whopping £950.

I don't know who buys this stuff.

Nvidia have announced two more GPUs.

The RTX 3050, and the RTX 3090TI.

There aren't really any details on the 3090TI, but the 3050 is looking to be a nice upgrade over the previous XX50 series cards.

The 3050 will be launching on the 27th Jan for an MSRP of $249.

Not that anyone will be able to buy one, and definitely not for that price.
