Funniest part about the FF14 housing bug is that it wasn't a simple "we forgot the random array starts at zero" thing.

It was some weird mixture of "are you eligible to buy a house and is it new or are you relocating" being bugged. Much harder to figure out

Hey @CriticalGaming, do you know about this problem going on in FFXIV yet?

I heard there is some sort of glitch with the new housing they've opening up. But I am so far from ever being able to afford a house in the game that I was nowhere near being interested in trying for a house. So I'm not hugely aware of what is actually going on there. I do know that Yoshi-P appologized his ass off and they are scrambling for a fix that will work out as fair for people as possible.

An absolutely insightful article by a LGBTQ+ writer for The Gamer imo, Xenoblade 2 had too many problems with fanservice in general.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Needs To Avoid Being Weirdly Horny Anime Nonsense
And there's Jade's first mistake: never gonna happen. Note, I am not supporting XC3, nor care either way, but she might as well play something else. The series knows its audience, for better and worse, and people who were most likely not interested to begin with, ain't gonna effect the game's sales much. Nor the reputation for the series. All I can say is, criticize all you want till you're blue; play and focus on a different game that does not have those problems.

I mean, are you really a gamer if you don't play a game that you love while simultaneously hate a part of?

Yes. I can name plenty of games where I like certain parts, but hated certain others. If it wasn't too frustrating or too bothering, I usually didn't mind playing the game again as long as the gameplay loop was good. One of my favorite games, Killer Is Dead, has those stupid Gigolo missions. A lot of critics went overboard on the hate and constantly shouted out to the mountains that it would kill grasshopper Studios and Suda51's career. Neither of which happened. Suda was not in charge of the games direction, and the gigolo missions are of the blame of Kawada Publishing. Apparently, the game wasn't "sexy" enough. Which explains a lot of the rushed development, and certain missions they weren't able to add in due to time constraints. Had they not bothered the developers with such bullcrap, the game would have been even more polished and had more content that was useful and not just filler. I never found a gigolo missions offensive, but once I didn't get all the power-ups, I never felt the need to do with them again. What sucks is that whatever girl you don't visit will constantly call you on missions at some Midway point. Usually twice in a level.

An Escapist original -

I haven't entered the capitol(the underdark has opened up so I've been poking around down there a lot) yet so maybe I'll be proven wrong but so far Stormveil castle is the best Dark Souls Dungeon in the game so far. I've done Raya Lucaria and....kinda Castle Redmane but the festival had started so I didn't have to fight to Rahdan so maybe it's a lot more interesting if you have to fight through it.

In other news, the podcast this week was interesting talking about where SE lost it's way.

There's a persistant rumor that FF9 is gonna get a remake and I'm kinda concerned about this because while I don't think it's perfect, I don't think Nomura getting his wierd belty fetish claws all over FF9 is going to do anything to fix what flaws it does have(Notably that Freya was done dirty and the long load times for battles). Also the fact they brought up(and I've been saying for a while now) is that the first part of the FF7 Remake came out 2 years ago and we still don't have any idea:
1. When part 2 is coming out
2. How many parts in total
3. How much of the game part 2 is going to cover
4. Why the fuck this is taking so long if the engine and battle system are already in place from the game that released 2 years ago.

So the idea they want to make a FF9 remake fills me with dread that it's also going to be a multipart game, each part of which will cost $70 and take 3-4 years between release and may take an entire console generation to see to completion(and we're not even remotely done with FF7 remake yet).

Don't worry though, it'll be a failure regardless because it'll make less than the infinite perpetual revenue that SE clearly expects from every game they make, considering how often they apparently claim "Profits didn't meet expectations". Well, yeah, it's hard to meet expectations when expectations are "infinite money forever".

I went through Redmane early on but there was a boss I didn’t bother with. Then when I went back later the festival had started and that boss was seemingly gone from the area and replaced by NPCs. It’s smaller like Castle Morne, but even that was more interesting to navigate.

I’ve only just started the underground via Siofra River the other night, at about 70 hours in. Godrick and Rahdan are the only story bosses I’ve fought so far. I’ve mostly been roaming around to any peculiarities on the map, which has been the bulk of it lol. Although I have gone back to clear out quite a few caves for their smithing stones. Also hunting down bell bearings, which makes them purchasable in the Round Table. I’ve looked up a couple side quests on the fextralife wiki too, with how bugged some of them have been. So far so good though.

Altus, Caelid and the Lakes have been traversed quite a bit for grace points and minor bosses, but I haven’t really dug into them as much as Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula yet. I’m basically playing this way because the game has been facilitating it so well. Whereas other Souls games’ progression happens fairly quickly and directly, and you end up hitting a wall of sorts with scaling boss difficulty unless you farm souls somewhere, here you can just keep finding new shit in new places, gradually getting stronger and stronger.

After Radahn was where I basically was like, I don’t want the game to be that hard yet. I suppose I’ll stumble back into the main story at some point, but I’m rather enjoying the agency-granting free roam easy mode shit for the time being.

Are they really thinking about remaking 9? I know they're going to make a cartoon show about it, but remaking 9 makes no sense (granted they could still do it even if it was a dumb move). 9 aged very well but, while generally liked, doesn't have the cultural footprint that 7 has. 9 would pretty much be at the bottom of my remake list for FF (4 is at the top, fun story but boring gameplay, then 8 similarly need an entire rethink of its dumb drawing mechanic and some reason to not just spam GF every single fight but it has a cool world and the graphic could definetly use a tune up).

7 part 2 taking forever (2 year already and not even a release window in sight) is really not a suprised, I remember when they came out with it in the first place saying that new part would come out quickly since they could recycle most of it. Yeah right, I don't even know whats the last FF entry that SE managed to make without massive fuck up in development and multiple delay. 10?

There's a rumor about it since I guess it showed up on Nvida leak or something, some games of which HAVE actually been announced for real.

I have a horrible feeling that 7.2 is taking so long because Nomura keeps trying to turn it into a musical because he REALLY, REALLY likes Les Mis, apparently, and the actual writers keep having to lock him in his office with executive toys to keep him busy until they can get the game done. That's my crazy theory at this point of what's going on at SE. PROVE ME WRONG, SE!

Really, I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that Yoshi P is the only Exec at SE that isn't constantly high off his own farts to the point of brain damage, considering how badly all their other products seem to be lately.
