What kind of build do you have so far? You could do STR/INT and basically train to be like wolf-bro. A decent shield with the barricade skill is a good alternative to dodging stuff. Ask @Old_Hunter_77 about his revenge run.
I'm maining Dex. I found and killed the traitor Blaidd was hunting (well, Blaidd did the hard work, but I was moral support) and got a sword, but I'm 6 points of Str shy of being able to actually use it. Also, I've learned that the shield is pretty good against normal enemies, but rolling is de rigeur for bosses.

He can be really rough initially. You can go south for runes and levels, but you can also go to Patches in Murkwater Cave who sells Margit's Shackle. I think it stuns him or something.
I've seen Murkwater Cave, but I don't know if I've done any exploring in it. Definitely haven't met Patches.

I forget if you meet him inside it or outside somewhere, but I know he shows up in it at some point.

I've played a bit of Pragmata.

It feels like a bit of a blast from the past, when AAA games didn't feel the need to put in this ridiculous amount of effort to explain themselves. You're an astronaut, you get to the Moon, and there's an android girl who hops on your back to hack enemies. Why? Because. It's not even really being mysterious or minimalist, it's just 'Well, this is what we're doing, and that's that.'

There's nothing really to the characters or the world, but there is a charming simplicity to Hugh and Diana just bein' buddies. Like someone took a PS1 era platformer and redesigned the characters as photo-realistic people.

Cool thing about the shackle is it can break illusory walls, and trigger dungeon traps like those chariots in the hero’s grave. Have to be in a certain range for that, but Margit’s version is better for it.

True, but even a medium shield with high guard boost and barricade skill can tank quite a bit. Malenia is one of the few bosses where rolling is pretty much required since she regains health even from blocking her attacks.

Killed Lichdragon Fortissax. I think I may have made things way more difficult than they needed to be by switching to the zweihander because dragons are supposed to be weak to pierce but then I read this one is weak to bleed so BHF would've worked fine? And dragon fights are hard enough when you do get access to horsey.

Climbing up to Altus Plateau instead of taking the lift was a highlight. Altus Plateau was cool and Volcano Manor fun to explore once it became a legacy dungeon; Mt Gelmir on the other hand kind of a pain to navigate since the map for that region is more impressionistic than accurate. Currently level 90 and knocking about Leyndell. Feels like I'm nearing the endgame, because most of the map has cleared up, the tenor of my conversations with certain NPCs and the fact that so many of them are already dead (and have me "helping" to thank for it), even if the endgame itself is probably another 30 hours. The game keeps unfolding at an incredible pace and is introducing new things constantly and the sheer amount of stuff you get to discover is amazing.

I had to check but Fortissax is like other dragons where Pierce is the biggest weakness, and all other resistances are equally strong. But, I think their specialty damages have higher resistances in general.
Did you clear Volcano Manor then? I found the Gelmir area of map tough to gauge too, until realizing there’s basically a lower ring around it.

As for nearing end game…sort of…lol.

The Strategy section here says the dragon "is really weak against Bleeding":

The last thing I did in Volcano Manor was defeat the Godskin Noble and wrap up Rya's questline (didn't kill her or give her the tonic, just left her there). I'd read that I should do every assassination mission before fighting Rykard and since the ones from Tanith and Bernahl that I have left take me to Leyndell and beyond I decided to just leave (though I never did find Rykard anyway). Should I have stayed and looked for him? I'm trying not to break up any questlines.

Maybe? Idk for me if it was more from using piercing attacks on weapons with bleed that caused bleeding. I'd mostly just stabby stabby at their mugs lol. Most of these field dragons have very similar resistances.

I beat Rykard pretty early and probably missed some dialog since Tanith disappeared from her usual spot, but the rewards after each request was completed were just left there. I think for questlines the only critical ones for trophies are Hyetta for the Frenzied Flame and Ranni for the Age of the Stars. Hunting down the grapes for the former was more tedious than anything, and just making sure to have Miquella's Needle to reverse the effect since it locks you out of the other endings (if you're using cloud saves to save scum endings).

As an aside you mentioned cleaning up in Leyndell, so please note for the Legendary Armaments trophy it's best to get the Bolt of Gransax before going too much farther, as there's a world-changing event that will make it unavailable until the next game cycle.

I've been doing 3rd Strike arcade mode with Elena and Makoto. My God, the latter is especially fun! Her install super is busted as fuck against CPU opponents. I ended up getting a high score, because of me ending rounds with the super active.

I didn't know about this game! Where have you been all my life?! It looks like great Kung Fu Master throwback! I will be picking this up. It's on sale for Switch and Steam!
I know its Kung Fu, I played that back in the day on my NES. But, now it just makes me think of One Finger Death Punch.

I couldn't get dex working consistently because of my main problem with the game- the squirrely, camera-fucking enemies.
That's why the "revenge" run being alluded to was all Str, Vit, and hammer weapons. It did start with shields but once I found big mace it was big over for everything else.

I attacked all the time in Ape Escape, but my completion is at only 97.4 percent. Now I see that I was supposed to collect medallions for the mini-game corner of the lab, which I totally ignored. I have only 47 of 60. Damn. Yeah, I'm not gonna do that.

Probably the best Sony platformer after Spyro. The sequels were okay, failed to recapture the magic.

Okay, knowing now what the medallions are for, I figured out what they signify in the level select, that it doesn't mean completed, which made finding the remaining not such a shot in the dark.

Done. The first PS1 game I 100 percent completed. I'll check out those minigames with my medallions now.

Beat Godwyn and Morgott in Leyndell. I think the boss fights in this are generally kinda lacking, in terms of the mechanics and how the enviroment plays into the fight. Rennala has an ok gimmick and the sprint across Radahn's arena is kinda cool, and then there's the old gargoyle switcheroo, and that's that. Meanwhile almost every boss in DS has something memorable to their credit. Could be their design, their moveset, the arena, the bullshit... It's been a year since I played it for the first time and I remember them like it was yesterday. But I've fought Margit, Godrick, Godwyn and Morgott in the space of a month and I couldn't pick them off a lineup.

Goodness, that looks Indian, don't see much of that in computer gaming.

Sure, there may be ~2 billion south Asians in the world, both Microsoft and Alphabet run by people with that background, but their representation seems very thin.
Yeah, it's an interesting approach also, through the lens of densely atmospheric sci-fi, a small stranded crew barely sane characters (I assume fated to be slowly whittled down as plot progresses). The accents are all very British which makes me think I'm playing as that pretty good stand-upcomedian who frequented the comedy panel shows a lot a few years back. Had a sweet spot of dry misanthropic comedy without doing the lazy American mainstream boys club of "comedians" thing that's pushed (I suspect inorganically somewhat) these days. Digressed too far, oops! Back to game, there's a very cool giant smoke elephant head...thing in the intro making noises like a demon transformer spirit, unsure whether it was directed at anyone in particular or part of the alien architecture but it was an effective tone setter for sure.
