In shocking news, SHOCKING I tell you, Sidney Powell's lawyers are trying to defend her promotion of the "rigged election" by stating that her statements were clearly not based in fact, and that nobody who was reasonable would believe them.

Which, considering that she went on every conservative talk show, flat out saying they had concrete evidence, means that basically the conservative party is unreasonable. It also means she's a massive fucking liar, but I love that it also so clearly illustrates the idiotic gullibility of the conservative, republican party.

They manufactured a bullshit story to stir up their base, ran around declaring it with the utmost of confidence and certainty, telling their worshippers to fight and resist on behalf of a complete LIE, but when faced with actual ramifications for their claims, they fucking backpedal and admit they were fucking lying on trump's behalf. And then those fuckwads storm the capitol, galvanized by these charlatans, and then wonder why we don't fucking trust them with anything more dangerous than a nerf bat.

Yeah, while this is not surprising, it's a bit of an unusual defence. "Our lies were so blatant they don't count as lies"

So why did they waste the country's time for months and gave an armed mob the drive to go storm the capitol if they all thought it was a bunch of gibberish?

Oh, so she's trying the Tucker Carlson defense?

So why did they waste the country's time for months and gave an armed mob the drive to go storm the capitol if they all thought it was a bunch of gibberish?
Oh, this is just a rear-guard defense. If it had succeeded, she'd be like "I AM A PROPHET OF TRUTH" or somesuch.

Because they were hoping that a mass, violent revolt, would get them the outcome they wanted (them being in power), that a fair and open election didn't get them. And hey, if a few pansy, queer loving democratic officials get killed in the process, well, who cares right? They aren't REALLY americans. They are the servants of the devil! They're all just trying to STEAL it from you good, honest, down to earth americans. So go in there and kill them! In the name of god and 'murica! And we'll sweep in and take total control.

Someone should broadcast Powell is a murderer and they have concrete proof but never provide any. When Powell sues for defamation, state no reasonable person would believe the claim.

Adam Schiff (D), Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, a vastly more important person than Sidney Powell, did the rounds on all the liberal news networks claiming he had "more than circumstantial" evidence of Trump-Russia collusion. He didn't. They did that for 3 years.

This is not a "whatabout" meant to defend the behavior. It's awful horrible behavior that I wish they'd stop doing. I just need you to know that when a private employee of Donald Trump follows the Democratic playbook, your conclusion that "the conservative party is unreasonable" is either a total non-sequitur or suspiciously forgiving to the Democratic Party.

There are so few of us trying to get truth to catch on, I can see how you might feel that way.
Funny how many Republican voters and Republican legislators were approving of the Democratic playbook for the past four years, isn't it? Crazy!

Trump's voter base is not all or only Republicans. There are plenty of people who were Democrats before Trump, and a huge amount of people who were politically unaffiliated before Trump, that voted for him. And there is no shortage of Republicans who have disapproved of Trump's behavior. The only people who say "Trump is the Republican Party now" are the most delusional Trumpers and bad faith actors on the other side trying to establish guilt by association. Do you really want to be that person?

Oh, outnumbered a hundredfold by Republicans, though.

And there is no shortage of Republicans who have disapproved of Trump's behavior.
Some of them mildly disapproved, I suppose. Those who objected more strongly got censured by the party, and those who didn't fully play along got threatened by the mob.

The only people who say "Trump is the Republican Party now" are the most delusional Trumpers and bad faith actors on the other side trying to establish guilt by association. Do you really want to be that person?
I don't think Trump is the Republican Party now, no-- mostly because his supporters have short attention spans and are easily distracted. Another shiny conman will be along to reach into their pockets in four years.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
This isn't the first time a conservative has argued this or similar in court. I think it was during that info war guys divorce trial and so he could get custody of his kid he argued that his whole show is just for entertainment and shouldn't be taken seriously. I think tucker carlson did the same thing.

And Rachel Maddow got a defamation case dismissed based on the claim that “A reasonable viewer would not actually think OAN is paid Russian propaganda" because Rachel Maddow said "OAN really literally is paid Russian propaganda.”

We live in an unfortunate moment where the 24-hour news can say anything they want and get away with it based on the idea that no reasonable person thinks any of them are reporting facts. Stop making it partisan.

Trump has some of the most partisan approval of any president in history. His support by registered Republican voters was near universal (and better than basically any candidate since Reagan) and opposition by registered Democrats was as well. This is farcical.

Partisan opinion polls are farcical.
So approval polling which has occurred for near a century that literally just asks whether you approve of a person and your party, which we can compare to roughly a century’s worth of data, where the questions have stayed largely identical, is unreliable?

Edit- either Trump is a Republican or the vast majority of Republicans aren’t Republicans.

Just like your party's leader had to be told innumerable times over the past 4 years, declaring "fake news" doesn't make inconvenient facts go away.

And she shouldn't have made her statement like that.
