I may be misinterpreting what you're saying here, but I think you may want to look at the numbers again. The Big Bang Theory is literally as close to the realistic numbers for white/non-white cast members as it could possibly be, given a five member cast size.

This isn't strictly true. You can use a wireless bridge, or a router configured to act as one. However, dedicated bridges seem to be fairly expensive for some reason, and figuring out whether or not your router supports wireless bridging seems to be a somewhat tricky proposition.
