Well, it's a definitely some degree of change, even if that's just correcting the implicit understanding that they were all male that had formed on the grounds that no female had previously been mentioned.

Discuss and Rate the Last Thing You Watched (non-movies)

Maybe. It potentially makes for a TV show significantly more appealing to a general audience. What works in a book doesn't necessarily work in a film / TV show, and the sorts of expectations and tolerances of SF readers are not necessarily the same as the wider public.

Translation: they dimly remember playing Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat or Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate in the 90s.

Although, looking at the case with multiple witnesses, presumably a murder weapon and all that, she was pretty boned whether she had a lawyer or not.

    Warhammer 40K Lore Discussion

I really mean WFB here. Back in the 80s, models were much smaller, and it wasn't that hard (expensive) to amass a substantial amount of miniatures. We're still talking low hundreds, but significantly more than many players seemed to favour in the mid-90s when I started to move on. 40k was always...

Unable to visit Russia? I'm sure he'll be devastated. I suppose Russia could pursue extradition if he sets foot in some other countries, but I don't fancy Russia would push its luck except in a tiny few, or that many other countries would comply.

    Warhammer 40K Lore Discussion

I think a reason I fell out of favour with Warhammer was that I wanted epic battles with lots of troops, and over time GW moved towards a more skirmish-orientated model. It was painful to read battle reports about great armies led by the Emperor or whoever in White Dwarf, and realise it's got...

    The Defending Joe Biden Mega-Thread

Not the whole world, maybe, but it is almost certainly exacerbating the risk of devastating natural fires in numerous parts of the world. In practice, to say the world is going to burn is not made in the literal sense, but to point out that climate change poses a significant risk of economic...

It is not, because ultimately Hitler is the attraction of fascism. Sure, you can listen to someone waffle on about Mussolini was the real deal and Hitler created a twisted version of it or various other performative criticisms designed to dampen the obvious difficult questions about why they...

    The Defending Joe Biden Mega-Thread

The USA had a stab at "nation building" in Afghanistan and it failed. In order to prevent the Taliban taking over, the US would have had to sit there indefinitely, at substantial cost and dropping bombs on Afghans with inevitable accidental deaths of civilians on its hands. That one was a...

It's ok to be angry about capitalism

The consumers are something of a sideshow in this sort of situation - except of course for being the ones who end up losing out. You have a company, it is bought and saddled with debts so that the owner can extract wealth from it, and then sold on. Depending on circumstances, the consumer may...

It's ok to be angry about capitalism

I fear that the free market argument here is "You guys set the rules by which we were able to grab all your money, so us doing that is your fault". Although a key problem here being that the water companies are not free market: they are regional monopolies. They cannot be allowed to fail...

Sure, and they could have made that point. But unfortunately for your argument, they claimed "Leftists are literally jailing people for misgendering others." You don't get points for basing your argument on what someone could have ideally said rather than what they actually did.
