Exterminatus is still pretty populated, I'm not sure about the versus mode but I think you can still get games fairly easily. It does suffer from lag quite badly at times depending on who's hosting the game and whether or not it feels like switching the host to someone with a more capable upload...

I second Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, it's my go to game for when I feel like stomping some arse, that game is great at making you feel like an unstoppable death machine, plus the online is pretty fun.
