Those old tests that required the manual were probably fairly effective. At least until the WWW became popular.
Those things were annoying... sucked so bad if you ever lost the manual or w/e other device they managed to come up with.
Absolutely loved this game. Friend of mine had an original copy. It was awesome. He moved away, though, so I had to acquire it via other... methods.
Which back then took quite a while on a 24kbps connection.
[Note: I generally had to pay a deposit on an apartment then monthly rent... so I don't think that is an apt comparison]
Less of a money grab than a lot of those 'F2P' games, many of which can be considered Pay2Win. Doesn't ESO just offer a horse? And there is no in-game ads telling you to go...

I've been kind of ignoring it, assuming it was another disaster cash-in like Pompeii but with a biblical tone to get more people in, like The Passion.

Wish I had a Vita. I would love to go back and replay this. Come to think of it, I may have stopped playing right before the final boss. Always had this bad habit with FF games, where I would get to the end, then go and try to do everything possible and get all the items first.
