Story-wise and general "ambiance"-wise, RDR takes the cake. It's marvelously well written and played. Not saying that GTAIV is bad, but it's not up to par. Unless you play TBOGT, you wont really be excited. About the single player, both games have ups and downs and they are on equal footing...
