So I am now close to never listening to a podcast again.
There are ever fewer actual gaming topics discussed, even fewer games discussed and the seemingly unstructured format means it (to me) has just become a frustrating and inane chatter from people who find their own jokes way too funny...
Deux Ex: Human Revolution
-- Confusing "skills" and hacking combinations to try and level up through, each 'city' felt small and lifeless rather than huge and over-crowded, terrible boss fights, and the story was pretty slow and uninteresting. I will attempt to re-play this at some point but it...
Fallout 3 made me buy the original Fallout.
And I had never heard of Mass Effect until I read a review for ME2, and I decided (very happily) to actually go and buy the 1st one first.
(which I loved, and then played 2 and 3)
I definitely think, as someone who pretty much only plays single player games, I look down on people who pretty much only play multi-player/non-story games.
The Descent
Cabin in the Woods
The Dawn of the Dead remake is pretty good IMO
Zombieland is OK
Rec
Silent Hill (1st one)
30 Days of Night (1st one)
The Hills have Eyes remake is OK
My Bloody Valentine
Wrong Turn is good
Wrong Turn 2 is OK
Land of the Dead is OK
For me I am a snob against people who call themselves gamers when, IMO, they don't put enough effort in or have enough knowledge to be.
For me you have to be playing and finishing games every month to be a gamer. If you play 2 or 3 games a year (especially if they are just sports games), and...
Are there certain games or even whole genres that you just simply will never play and that you even look down on?
Are you embarrassed that certain types of game or gamer exist?
It's definitely an interesting one - technology does replace magic in modern/future games.
Do the Harry Potter games count? ;)
Also, this is a good read.... http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheMagicVersusTechnologyWar
I would say, as mentioned above, there are quite a few modern or future games with 'magic' in them.
Magic is just instead referred to as "psychic ability", "biotics", "super powers" or even computer hacking is used instead.
Definitely interested - although will wait for reviews and some more gameplay videos on YouTube before deciding.
I prefer more "action" than "sneak" in my games, so it will depend on what mix of that there is.
I would recommend you get Dragon Age now for a cheap price, play it through, and by then the new Baldurs Gate will be out and you can read the reviews before finally going ahead with buying that.
And if you haven't played The Witcher 2 then do that as well.
;)
I recently watched 'Indie Game: The Movie' and it's excellent. Very interesting and quite emotional at times. I've also seen 'The King of Kong' (about Donkey Kong champions) which is also pretty good.
Can anyone recommend any other documentaries about video games?
