Didn't respect him because Ash was weak, not because he owned him. Ash proves himself to Charizard later in the anime and Charizard smothers him with affection from that point on. Hell, he pulls off an improbable but badass rescue of Ash in the 3rd Pokemon movie.

The way I understood it, neither Pierce nor Kingsley were actually the Mandarin. I took it as Kingsley being the patsy and Pierce just having invented the character to throw Tony off, without actually being him. I must have misunderstood then.

Personally, I found Thor and Cpt. America to be much more guilty of being forgettable than IM3, as all that I can remember from the former are Thor and the supporting cast (can't even remember the plot), and from the latter, Chris Evans and the tesserract. 3 might be the weakest of the Iron Man...
