Gena Davis institute on Gender in media tries to link violent games to mass shootings and police violence

Whatever you say, man. I don't know, is Homelander bisexual in the series?

Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. It was pretty depressing how these arseholes made so much money while getting away with so much shit. But then I watched the youtube video where the Cookie Monster sings along to Tom Wait's God's Away on Business, which cheered me up.

    The Wheel of Time

Yeah that reminds me I thought his axes looked pretty stupid in the trailer as well. I've probably been watching Forged in Fire too much but those short, double bladed axes are really dangerous. If he hits a shield or armour with them the reverse blade is going to come straight back at his face.

Of course, it's totally different when the Boys does it... And it doesn't add more diversity anyway, since the Homelander was bisexual in the comics.

What was the purpose of changing her sexuality then?

I didn't watch the second series but I've seen a few people mention this. The thing is though that Maeve wasn't bisexual in the comics, she was straight. Her sexuality was changed for the TV show, presumably to improve representation. The showrunners are guilty of the issue they're supposedly...

    Favourite Fantasy Fiction

Off hand, I'd recommend -- The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. I read them back to back a year or so ago after reading them as a kid. They really stand up. The Abarat books by Clive Barker. Really creative books. David Gemmell books, in particular Sword in the Storm and Midnight...

Greatest Comic Book Writer of All Time and Why

I'd be torn between John Wagner or Pat Mills. They've never had much success in America but their work in 2000AD and other British comics is great. John Wagner has the likes of Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Robo Hunter and Button Man. Pat Mills can be a bit hit and miss but was on a real hot...

There was one episode in the original series of Star Trek where the Romulans really fucked up the Enterprise with a nuclear warhead.

    The Wheel of Time

I suspect the protagonist is going to be Egwene based on the trailer. It opens with Egwene jumping in the river, and Moraine's voiceover over the bulk of the trailer is presumably directed at Egwene. It's just a bit weird that in the book Rand, Matt and Perrin are literally the most important...

    Youtube in a nutshell

I'm kind of sick of the advert for that Jimmy Saville documentary popping up on Youtube. A clip of a notorious paedophile is a bit of a downer for most videos that follow.

Eon, by Greg Bear. The first two thirds of the book are great, and then it goes off the tracks. It was a slog to finish in the end.
