Have you tried downloading a Large Address Aware mod? I struggled with FO and TES games for a long time until I got their respective LAA mods. I'm not sure it will help, I'm pretty sure if it would then JesterRaiin would have had something to say about it, could be worth a try though.

Yeah sure, they would have to really ramp up the difficulty though.

I've only had to tcl, but I don't really consider that cheating. IRL I would be able to pull my self over or in between those rocks, I wouldn't be stuck hopping up and down hoping it will be come some thing more than an exercise in futility.
