Poll: I do not feel more respect or admiration for military personnel than I do for anyone else.

Having never been in any military service, I can't say I know exactly what goes on, but I have seen the changes it brings about in people. I've watched friends go away completely level-headed and come back muscle bound, cocky and looking to pick fights, constantly talking about how they can't...

Poll: I do not feel more respect or admiration for military personnel than I do for anyone else.

Today's military, that being the military services we have today which do not operate on conscription, but on voluntary application. Can you tell me which United States of America you're in where they still have compulsory military service? I have no reason to thank you for anything. I am...

Poll: I do not feel more respect or admiration for military personnel than I do for anyone else.

Why shouldn't they? Today's military requires any member to make a conscious decision to join. Obviously anyone who joins the military today is on the other end of the moral spectrum from me; they're okay with killing people on demand as their government asks and I think they're brainwashed...

Poll: I do not feel more respect or admiration for military personnel than I do for anyone else.

What about all the soldiers who join up just because they want to "kill ragheads?" I know quite a few myself. That particular brand of solider, I can't even view as people. And the ones who are "defending the homeland," sure, they may all think that, but the reasons why we're in these two...

Poll: I do not feel more respect or admiration for military personnel than I do for anyone else.

Really? I feel like our military is a pretty big part of WHY the rest of the world would love to see our country burn to the ground. Bit of a catch-22, huh? We apparently need the military to keep everyone else from killing us and yet the military is one of the many reasons they hate us anyway.

Poll: I do not feel more respect or admiration for military personnel than I do for anyone else.

Okay. What are our brave, courageous men in uniform defending me from right now? We've had two heavily publicized conflicts in my lifetime; the Gulf War and the Second Gulf War. Neither one had any justification whatsoever. So what am I being protected from?

Poll: I do not feel more respect or admiration for military personnel than I do for anyone else.

In fact, I don't really see servicepeople as anything other than hired thugs trained to kill at the command of the government. That's what any military is, including that of the United States, my home country.

    Poll: Can England be invaded

Blackwater really isn't all that different from the US armed forces in terms of the goons and thugs who join up.

UPDATE x2: Could someone show me why I'm wrong?

That sets me up to discuss an entirely different issue entirely; I think it is way, way too easy to obtain a driver's license, or at least it is in my state. A friend of mine just got his license at the age of 20. He is on various mood-stabilizer medications and is not a very good driver in...

UPDATE x2: Could someone show me why I'm wrong?

I will start by saying that the first thing I ever do any time I get into a car, whether it is mine or someone else's, is put my seatbelt on. However, seatbelt laws, like any other similar law (smoking bans, the prohibition of alcohol, the prohibition of all other illegal drugs) are a...

    Poll: Can England be invaded

Yeah, you don't fuck with British special ops, some of the best trained soldiers in the world. In my opinion, and as an American, they make our Marines and SEALS look like pussies. But maybe that's because every Marine and SEAL I've ever met was just a jagoff with a tough guy complex.

    Is cgi ruining films?

Physical props and special effects have always had some sort of charm that makes them better than CGI usually is. Look at the original Star Wars trilogy. The props weren't exactly high-tech, but they were a hell of a lot better than the "remastering" they did. CGI is at a level where it looks...

So how are you Londoners not terrified of the Met yet?

When do you plan on saying something relevant, and without assumption? For one, Dan Brown is one of the only people I would more greatly prefer to be hit by a bus than you. Secondly, I do plenty of bettering myself when I shut my PC off and you no longer exist to me. Consider that. When I flip...
