If someone from the 1950s suddenly appeared today, what would be the most difficult thing to explain

I'm not sure this would be too difficult to explain, but they'd definitely be amazed by how busy it is everywhere. The current global population is about 7 billion, in 1950 it was about 2.5 billion. That's a crazy increase. Music wouldn't be too difficult to explain. They might hate it, but...

    Dealing with Unemployment

I finished university in June, and after a relatively intentional unemployment over the Summer started my first real full-time job, and holy crap it's hard. People might call me lazy or whatever but seriously, life becomes such a slog when you're in an incredible menial job you don't really care...

Poll: Why do you listen to the music you have?

It wasn't meant as a dig, sorry if I offended. I'd say 15-30 is about average, I walk about 3 and a half miles to uni and that takes pretty much dead on an hour, and I'm not exactly a speed walker. I'm just surprised you can listen to two albums in that time.

Poll: Why do you listen to the music you have?

Either those are very short albums, or you walk incredibly slowly. OT: I have no idea, I guess it's a combination of everything. I guess most of the music I really like I just think sounds good, a combination of beat, melody, nice sounding vocals etc. Some songs I will like because the...

    Video Game Drinking Games

Seems like a good idea, I may redownload worms onto my xbox tomorrow. It's been a while since I've played it, and multiplayer worms can be great fun, and even better with drinking!

    Video Game Drinking Games

My friend and I have just finished our exams, so this weekend we're just going to sit around playing his gamecube and drinking pretty much the entire time. I was just wondering if anybody here has any game-related drinking games to share. For the sake of discussion, they don't have to be for...

    The book thread!

I'm reading 'The Power and the Glory' by Graham Greene. It follows a Catholic priest on the run from the authorities in Mexico during the religious persecution of the 1930s I think it is. Interesting subject matter, and this is the first Greene book I've ever read but his writing is fantastic. I...

    Music Festivals

Yeah, I've learnt that from going to Leeds. From what I've read on the efestivals Glastonbury forum, most people are saying that if you shop around a bit a bit further out from the main stages you can get food a little cheaper. Although I'm not a festival veteran by a long shot, I've got used...

    Music Festivals

I'm not really a metal fan, but I just looked at the Bloodstock line up because I've never heard of it before, and I just love looking at metal line ups. They're all trying to out-font each other and it always just looks crazy. Shambala looks great, like it has a really different chilled out...

    Music Festivals

Yeah I heard that, been reading a lot about it in my excitement. Only just under 5 weeks now I think I saw someone say yesterday. My girlfriend and I got our tickets in the resale last month, and it was kind of a spur of the moment decision to go. Because of that, it's come round so quickly, I'm...

What Superpower do you wish you had... With a Twist.

I like to think whoever grants these abilities would be comically literal, to a fault.

    Music Festivals

Really? Everyone I know that's ever been to Glastonbury and at least one other festival including Reading and Leeds has always said Glastonbury is the best festival they've ever been to.

    Music Festivals

I get what you're saying, but you come across a little ignorant of different types of music. Either way, Leeds festival does not have a primarily dance line up, headlining bands that played in years I attended include Rage Against the Machine, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, and...

    Music Festivals

I feel pretty differently about it. I think part of me just quite likes the squalor. A festival feels like a completely different world, people behave differently to how they do in their everyday lives. Now I appreciate this isn't always a good thing (there's always going to be some dickheads)...
