Yep, online only with monthly fee, currently only on PC. There were plans for a PS3 version, but that's currently delayed indefinitely while they try and deal with the unfinished and badly designed state the PC version is in.

It's pretty fun, solid hack and slashing with some nice puzzles, especially with the portal gun. I enjoyed it and thought it was worth it (PC version).

*boast* I got that bastard on very hard + hardcore. Try turbo, it makes a huge difference. I used turbo + psycho + slasher with the unique sniper rifle and handloaded .308 JSP ammo.

Yeah, this. Plus emo would be showing a lot of melodramatic emotion all the time, like if Boone cried all the time. Boone is broken and burdened, but also quiet and stoic about his pain. He's definitely not emo.

You can happily kill everyone if need be and the game continues just fine. I was only disliked by the legion when I got there and they weren't hostile, but when they wanted me to surrender my guns I was all 'aw hell naw' so I ended up killing them all. I did it using mostly the grenade...

Torchlight is fun and it doesn't cost much, so sure just go ahead and give it a shot.
