I'm assuming you've fixed this by now, but just incase you haven't - If you're on the PC version, you can just type "prid " followed by "moveto player" to move any NPC/Companion to you. Worked a charm for the times when mine went missing. ( You can find all the IDs for characters on the wiki )...

Atleast for CS:GO, these items do have unique ID numbers and unique USER ID numbers. So tracking the trade history and the status of an item is fairly easy. It's how a lot of the CS trading community avoids duplicated items ( That's the main reason for this - people would VPN into their accounts...

It's depressing that I also believe that to be the case. Looks like a really cool idea, but I just don't trust that man anymore.

Just wanted to point out that they haven't been given a "life-time" ban, The players have been banned for 1 year on ESEA and CEVO (with the possibility for ban renewals) and also had their teams removed from the faceit leagues. At any rate, this is a pretty big blow for the NA CS:GO scene.

I'm so upset that a PC release hasn't been confirmed. I've been following this since the first announcement and even though I get excited with each snippet of info, I also get depressed knowing I'm probably not going to get to play it for atleast another year after release...

I'm not sure how you get an online ban for that, I regularly ALT+F4'd from invasions and boss fights in my No-Death run, I'm still able to play online ( I haven't used the bone either ).

Well, it damaged the series to me - and the group of friends that I usually play with. I played for about a week at launch, uninstalled and then reinstalled for 'Player Appreciation' month...played for an hour and uninstalled. I just don't feel the same pull to spend 500+ hours playing this...
