Heart of the Swarm Brings Battle.net Upgrades to StarCraft II

The feature is not intended for ladder games. The blog post clearly states that it's a resume-from-replay feature, meaning that both parties must agree to resume the game for it to work. The point of it all is to prevent tournament games having to be replayed from scratch in case of technical...

    Recomend me a RTS please?

I recommend Starcraft, Starcraft:BroodWar and Starcraft 2. As strategy games, they have the most depth. I've played the single player campaigns of these games countless times, and don't even get me started on multiplayer... Even though I don't personally think they are RTS games, I do also...

More People Watched Major League Gaming Online Than the NFL Draft

MLG Columbus was a great event. It's true that their claim was a bit overstretched. Still, 450k unique viewers is an amazing number for competitive gaming. It's still a long way until it reaches the level of popularity of professional sports, but the growth is undeniable. I disagree that...

Trailers: StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm: Gameplay

I'm not that good with micro either, and I managed to work my way through Wings of Liberty Brutal while keeping ol'Jimmy and his buddy Tychus alive whenever they were featured in the missions. The best thing about it is that if you're not confident in your abilities, you can start playing on...

Trailers: StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm: Gameplay

I'll have to correct you on that. Before Broodwar, the Overmind was in control of the Zerg, and it gets killed. The whole of Broodwar is Kerrigan's fight to gain control of all the Zerg for the first time, and to become the Queen of Blades.

Trailers: StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm: Gameplay

I just want to point out that in the original Starcraft Zerg campaigns you also had Kerrigan as a hero unit with unique abilities. In both solo and base building missions. As for losing the Zerg swarm feeling in the campaign, one of the previewed missions allowed you to have 144 banelings...

Research Paper Attempts to Prove Why StarCraft Is Fun to Watch

I think there has been a slight misunderstanding here. The authors didn't attempt to show why Starcraft itself was more fun to watch, they were trying to understand why game spectators in general have more fun watching the games rather than playing them, and they chose Starcraft as basically a...

Did Starcraft 2 seem like a disappointment to you?

Personally, I love it. All of it. Single player, multiplayer, map editor, everything, right down to the cheesy story. I still play both the single-player campaign and multiplayer in ladder and against friends.

    Franchises you will defend forever?

Can hardly be called a franchise, since the second installment isn't here yet, but... Starcraft these are also worth defending beyond logic: Total War Warcraft Fallout Elder Scrolls

The Escapist Presents: Starcraft 2 101: Tips & Tricks

That's why I prefer to use the Friend/Green - Foe/Red system. You can distinguish green from red pretty well, even on units of the same race, even between Zergs. The only place where you may have a problem with this system is FFA.

Pink? Haven't thought about that... Doesn't really look like pink, it's closer to white. As far as colors go, for me I found that Friend/Foe Green/Red works best. Other than that, Orange looks great on Protoss, Green looks good on Zerg and Red/Blue on Terran.

The Escapist Presents: Starcraft 2 101: Tips & Tricks

One word: hotkeys! With automining and multiple building selection (MBS) it's much easier to macro in Starcraft 2 compared to Brood War. You can select all you production buildings and put them under a Ctrl group, just like you would do with the units. In the middle of battle you can...

The Escapist Presents: Starcraft 2 101: Tips & Tricks

It's true that casting 'spawn larva' every 25 seconds can get pretty tedious, especially if you're trying to micro your army at the same time, but I'd rather put the second hatchery in the natural ( if I were playing Zerg, that is ;) ). Having plenty of larvae means nothing if you don't have the...

The Escapist Presents: Starcraft 2 101: Tips & Tricks

In the video, only one is mentioned, but each of the races has an economic micromanagement mechanic: - Zerg Queen's Spawn larva ability 4 extra larvae with each injection, if you remember to use this ability constantly, you won't need a second hatchery in your base; when you expand...
