The problem with using Grand Admiral Thrawn in the new setting is that he was a distinctly non-Sith opponent - you can't really have antagonists like that now that everything's been pushed into the "Jedi vs. Sith" framework.
A band of foul-mouthed, bar-fighting female mercenaries wreak havoc in Middle Earth. There are also assassins and a murder mystery. It's funny, it's entertaining, it's clever. If you need further justification to read the book, you're probably not going to like it anyway.
