That might have some in-universe explanation in the way of the translator, which seems to be an implant that basically everyone has that converts alien languages into your native language. I would assume that the Asari name for Illium is something else, but the translator VI searches for...

I went like...full stealth/hacker for 90% of the game. And I didn't mind that the boss fights were harder, because I chose to specialize in being a sneaky bastard. I shouldn't breeze through tough enemies when I've spent most of the game unlocking hacking and sneaking abilities. That said...
