    What do you drive?

2014 Ford Focus ST in silver. Done a bit of modding, so getting about about 260BHP. Very quick, and the handling is great, although a little squirrelly when you put your foot down (gotta love the torque steer).

Poll: So the TSA is letting people carry knives on planes

Apparently, although according to the TSA website you are allowed to carry ice.

    Whisky

I'm generally inclined to agree, although there are a few higher-end blends that I'll enjoy when in the right mood. Have you tried any of the Compass Box blends? Can't hold a candle to most single malts, but they're certainly interesting.

    Whisky

Huge drinker of the stuff, although it does prove to be an expensive habit. I have a number of favourites, although I am consistently a fan of Speysides, especially Benromach. Old Pulteney is also a fantastic one (although I wasn't as impressed with the current 12 year old - the 17 year old...

    Poll: UK Citizenship Quiz

16/24 (fail), British citizen. Most of those questions are pretty irrelevant. I would actually dispute some of the answers - there are 650 constituencies last time I checked... I remember reading some sample questions on this a while back as well, and some of those answers were wrong.

50 Americanisms That Brits Apparently Hate

Don't know what #29 is complaining about - the two phrases don't mean the same thing. Fortnightly would mean once every two weeks, whereas bi-weekly is twice a week.

    Zero Punctuation: Alice: Madness Returns

He's got a point, though - the original game was fun for a while, but overall really wasn't very good. Might think about getting this one for the HD re-release.

    Ask a physicist

Superconductors display zero DC resistance, but they still have resistance for alternating currents due to the inertia of the Cooper pairs. Another bizarre feature is the heat transport properties of superconductors - although heat transfer in metals is by electrons, metals in the...

    Calling all Doctor Who experts

Pretty much any of the last couple of seasons of the 7th Doctor, but The Curse of Fenric has always been my favorite. Remembrance of the Daleks is worth checking out as well.

It shouldn't be this hard to find cigars...

You used to be able to find the cheap nasty ones in regular shops, but I'm not sure they'll be much better than cigarettes. Same problem with good pipe tobacco - if you're lucky enough to live somewhere near a specialist shop, great. Tobacconists seem to be dying out, but there are still a...

    Poll: Do you smoke ?

Yes, I occasionally smoke a pipe

Nerdiest fact, question or answer you can think of.

Have to get it below the lambda point (superfluid transition) for that (2.17K for Helium-4, 1mK for Helium-3). Normal-state liquid won't do this. Related fact - the highest temperature elemental superconductor is niobium, with a critical temperature of 9.2K. Currently, the highest temperature...

What is the weirdest question that anybody has ever asked you?

"I'm sorry, sir, you do what to a sheep?" From a USDA officer after I explained what haggis is.

    Funniest message in a game.

In the original Jedi Knight, I fell from the top level of the Bespin mining facility and landed with a sickening crunch on a walkway right at the bottom. The game put up the message "Darth Matt has become one with the floor" for all to see.

    The Wheel of Time?

Very good series, although it is a big time commitment. I wouldn't necessarily agree that the quality of the story went down hill after the first 5, but there are issues with the story having too many threads with no obvious sign that they are going to come together. In some places, it felt as...
