Holy crap this standout is a bit of a bad logic bad case.
"Besides, the original creators of a game don't see any of the money from a second-hand sale, and I'm somewhat invested in the system wherein professional creatives get paid to do work."
Does this mean that used book stores should...
This is like saying Islam is a whole is responsible for cleaning up extremists and because they "don't denounce terrorists" the religion as a whole is a terrorist religion.
This is like saying Christians as a while are responsible for cleaning up the Westboro Baptist Church and because "they...
"Hey guys this top selling game doesn't have drm therefore drm hurts sales" is a weak argument in a world where "the other nine of the top ten selling games this year have drm and sold great."
Look, I know that it's all fine and dandy to post in the forums that most people who use pirated...
Vaan isn't the protagonist, it's Ashe's story.
Vaan's character arc is resolved in the first act, and is meant to be a reflection of the theme of Ashe and Basch's conflicts--that of revenge for those who wronged you. Vaan doesn't resolve it by getting even with the object of his scorn...
Irony and being right are not mutually exclusive.
One does not expect someone against DRM to be bitten in the ass by DRM on their products. That's the source of irony. The fact they're against DRM is what MAKES it ironic, because it is -counter to expectation- that someone against DRM would...

The problem here isn't that they are sponsered articles--the problem is that the ethics code explicitly states that a sponsored article has to follow specific guidelines. So if PokerStars sponsers an article, it can be about -PowerStars- but that any opinion has to be that of the Escapist...

Notice it isn't just ONE article. There's two--both of which are non-ethics code compliant.

This is the offending article. The "How games train your brain article" is a different one.

Update: Seems Canadian non-pubclubbers are the only ones seeing this.
Update: So, ad-only content that is using article space rather than ad space.
Ads are important to the survival of the Escapist. We all understand that bills and employees have to be paid and that it's the nature of...
