    General Gaming News.

This person looks way too tomboyish to me for some reason. Maybe Shiek would be a better fit. I never pictured Zelda as an Angelina Jolie-type ice queen. She needs some rounder edges.

Why Derivative Game Design Doesn't Matter

In my view most single player games can't really avoid the part of the game where you master the systems enough that the game is kinda solved. They can be super cheap and unfair I guess, but then getting to that point of skill isn't fun enough to be worth the trouble. This is why I like...

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach... and a little retrospective on Hideo Kojima's Open World games.

Apparently Pekora is in this game. I may have to play it.

Blades of Fire - forging ahead

Ok so for the smithing minigame, the idea is that you press down and the steel flows to the side, so you have to kinda sheepherd it where it needs to be. The tile your hammer is under is the one that will be lowered when you strike, and by angling your hammer you can direct where the overflow...

Let me guess, too much fire? XD

Blades of Fire - forging ahead

So I put in like 4 hours. Game’s great, it has a lot of DS1 vibes. You can’t jump and while you have certain prompts for climbing over things in the environment if you aren’t supposed to go over a surface you are unable to cross a waist-high step. If you fall too far you die. And while one would...

Blades of Fire - forging ahead

I mentioned the price in the top post, if you're on psn it's 10% off too. While being better than many $70 (now $80?) games. Haha yeah, that game is hyper realistic, even having food items in your inventory will cause them to decay with the passage of time unless you preserve them by...

Blades of Fire - forging ahead

I agree that there's better ways to "promote" such a thing, but some people just don't respond to that, so this is more about forcing the player to engage with the crafting system as opposed to strongly urging them. About locking away the option of the player using a crutch tactic they became...

Blades of Fire - forging ahead

I love the part about observing your foe’s armor to determine which body part is weak to which type of damage so much. It makes observing your opponent important even against basic enemies. And yeah I saw the demo but I wanna just play the full game so I’m waiting. Glad to hear it’s fun though.

Blades of Fire - forging ahead

The cool thing here is that different parts of the weapon decay independent of eachother so for example if you use the sword in the thrusting pose you wear the point down but not the blade and vice-versa. Also blunt weapons don’t decay. You have a sharpening stone on you like monster hunter and...

The last thing we watched, cartoon/animu edition

Marathoned the entire first season of Medalist yesterday, which just goes to show that a good sports anime can make you care about just about any sport. I thought Haikyuu was out of my field of interest enough with voleyball, but Medalist has to take the cake. It's a story about little girls ice...

Doom: The Dark Ages; Rip and Tear? More like Bash and Charge!

I'll play this at some point but in no rush. I played the story mode of every doom since 16 for a kick of nostalgia and liked em a lot for what they are. In this one you apparently ride a dragon or something like that so it's likely to be my favorite.

Blades of Fire - forging ahead

So this game came up a few months ago seemingly out of nowhere, and it's nearly out. It's a dark fantasy action game with a weapon crafting system as the focus. Apparently there's an evil queen who turned all the steel to stone and only her minions get to have it and the protagonist is some type...

GRAND THEFT AUTO 6 OFFICIAL TRAILER (DECEMBER 2023)

It's the difference between hearing a joke and laughing vs thinking "that's funny" but not actually laughing at the joke as you hear it. And hey, the older GTAs had some hook going to them. GTA 5 was all about heists and multiple protagonists. GTA4 was you playing as a russian instead of an...

GRAND THEFT AUTO 6 OFFICIAL TRAILER (DECEMBER 2023)

So I watched the new trailer but this seems completely uninspiring. Sure it's technically impressive and looks very realistic, but the things it depicts so realistically were bland and boring from a narrative sense. Genuinely don't get what's interesting about the particular things being shown...
