I agree with the majority of this article, but it -is- a very short game. My roommate and I finished the game yesterday along with another friend of ours. It took us about 4.5 hours. We are not super-geniuses by any stretch of the imagination.

My main issue with that particular exchange is simple.. Being turned into a Golem essentially gives you immortality and superpowers. The reason it's considered bad is the whole "no free will" thing. The sole reason for that are the control rods, which have NOTHING AT ALL to do with the anvil...
