Poll: When do you purchase your game?

I needed one more option: "Various/Depends*." My history with the previous console generation was to wait for the GOTY edition where it was applicable. Some games don't have GOTY editions where they collect all the DLC, so I would wait for them to hit the $19 and below mark. With the advent...

What does it take to ruin a game for you?

For my part, THE thing that kills my enjoyment of a game is an unclear and/or unfair fail-state. If you really want to get my blood boiling to the point where I would sell the game (or destroy it), add to that a restart at the very beginning of that sequence, especially where it is a long...

What was the worst game that you pre-ordered?

I haven't had many pre-orders, and I primarily pre-ordered games so that I could pay for them over a period of time and not feel like I've just dropped $65.00 on something. That being said, I think all of my pre-orders have been disappointing. They are: Rage: I played through some of the...

Poll: Do you play video games in public?

I never had a handheld when I commuted on a bus and now, with an almost hour-long commute every morning, I yearn for a bus/train so that I can play my games as I travel to work. I answered anywhere. For the first year or so of my owning a vita, I was leery about taking it out in public. For...

    Buying a PS4, and I need a hand

If you are getting PS+, you can save your money on Infamous Second Light as it'll be free next month with the service. I've enjoyed playing Black Flag and Wolfenstein on the system. Last of Us: Remastered is also worth the money.

[back to gaming] What are you playing now?

Sorry, I've got it for the PS3 or PC. I hope you find someone to play with, it is a great game for friends.

[back to gaming] What are you playing now?

What system/format are you playing on? I'm always up a for a game.

[back to gaming] What are you playing now?

I finished the Last of Us remastered about two weeks ago, and I've been reluctant to start a new game. This happens to me when I play a game that has captured my imagination. I've got the remastered Metro game, but I think that I'll play Papo y Yo first.

Poll: Your favourite Marvel movie so far

I wanted to say that it was Winter Soldier or Avengers, but Guardians of the Galaxy remains the only one that I went to the theater to see twice, good movies all around. I wait eagerly for the next one to hit the silver screen.

How do you personally define what a game is "worth"?

I don't have any concrete calculus on deciding whether a game is worth the money I've paid for it; however, I find that often go by a "gut feeling" about whether or not I felt the enjoyment was worth the cost. For instance, I paid $9 for a used copy of Singularity and felt that the game was...

What was your first Platinum Trophy?

My first platinum trophy (and only one for the longest time) was from Fallout 3. Since most of the games I've got tie trophies to difficulties that are beyond my abilities and time commitments or to on-line play, I haven't had much incentive to try to get many platinum trophies. Since that was...

Poll: Escapist: Can you drive a Manual?

I've driven one just about every day for the last twenty years. Good luck getting the feel for your clutch. Once you've got it, you'll be just fine. If you know how to drive one well, whether you are on a steep hill or level ground, you should have little to no roll-back. Welcome to the Club.

Poll: Jim Sterling Calls Out New Assassin's Creed (for racism/sexism?)

A joke can be a joke and still function to start a discussion of a topic. Writing/English instructors have used Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" to great effect for beginning a discussion on rhetoric and composition.

Poll: Jim Sterling Calls Out New Assassin's Creed (for racism/sexism?)

Rozalial, let's be fair here. I am not suggesting that they create a multitude of assassins to represent the ethnic diversity of 18-C France. I am saying that it would be nice if they didn't copy/paste the same guy four times and give each one a different color palate to make them "different."...

Poll: Jim Sterling Calls Out New Assassin's Creed (for racism/sexism?)

To assume that every Frenchman in France during the 18-century was a brown-haired "English" looking white guy is representative of not looking at the issue very closely. What of the diversity of people native to France--they don't all look alike. Some areas of France can't even speak what is...
