The Big Picture: The Boot, Part Two

So, erm, I've done a Babylon 5 marathon. We allowed ourselves a sleep between each season. So that's 17 hours (ish, given time to grab a sandwich, toilet breaks, etc), then sleep, then 17 hours, then sleep, etc. Man, I miss university. TL;DR - A Potter marathon is nothing, lightweights.

    Zero Punctuation: Halo 4

I just didn't like that they got rid of her code-scrolling. Seemed like a logical place to express her rampancy - she was always described as literally wearing her thoughts on her sleeve.

    "Vilerat" Benefit Raises $100,000

I'm glad this is reaching more than they aimed for. EVE is a community of only around 400,000 (and less than that English-speaking) and to raise this much means a lot (though, Goonswarm's ties to Something Awful also bring in more people). For anyone who doesn't know who Vile_Rat was, The...

No Right Answer: Best Kevin Smith Film Ever

Given that Dogma has that absolutely amazing scene with the Metatron standing on the lake and laying out the incredibly sadness that he and God feel at subjecting mortals (and part-mortal, in the case of Jesus) to suffering to save the many, which is one of my favourite scenes in any film, it...

Disney Is Stupid, And You're Dumb

As my personal favourite Disney film (ARGH! This is like trying to rate Pixar films!) I will say that anyone who hasn't seen Lilo and Stitch is doing themselves a disservice. It's funny and cute but also surprisingly dark and affecting. Seriously, try it.

    Poll: Fake Geek Girl Meme

You, sir. I think I love you. "Non-Ironically sell compact disks" is definitely entering my generally used phrasing. These damn kids, they have no idea how lucky they are. They don't know the insane scramble to hide your entire figure collection before asking a girl home. For those of us...

Update: OnLive Transitions Into New Company

Sounds like I'm the only person who actually LIKES OnLive. For lunch-breaks it's pretty much our company's primary distraction - OnLive runs on practically any of our terminals, so there's no hardware issues there. We even have one of the little OnLive consoles in the break room attached to...

Dust 514 Finally Merging With EvE Online

Not unless they improve PlanetSide 2 drastically before release. They're both at a development stage, but Dust is leaps ahead. Which is a shame, I was really looking forward to PlanetSide again..

Dust 514 Finally Merging With EvE Online

And if the soldier calling down the strike is me on my PS3? Spies exist in practically every competitive group part of EVE - believing that your team-mates are all on the same side as you is often the quickest way into a trap. Dust won't present the same opportunities for outright bastardry, but...

Dust 514 Finally Merging With EvE Online

I too look forward to murdering swathes of clone soldiers from orbit with the push of a button. I also look forward to the ridiculous exploits and abuses that the EVE playerbase comes up with - it really is half the game.

    Our Little Pony

Is empathy really that low around these parts? This guy has nailed it - the comic is a reaction to the male "Geek Gatekeeper" crap that's going on. By gender-flipping the situation it becomes painfully obvious what's going on (or it should, apparently it's kinda wooshing over most heads)...

The Great Resident Evil 2 Coverup

Having played the game about two weeks ago, yes, he tells you the gun is empty. I think he then says something like "Why'd she do that?" in his internal narration.

    Mass Effect 3: The Wall

I'm with Susan on this. I'm much happier with the endings now. My only concern is that Harbinger is a bit of a Bond villain now - SHOOT THE NORMANDY, IT'S THE SHIP THAT'S BEEN MESSING UP YOUR PLANS SINCE FOREVER, SHOOT IT! A ten-second scene of Joker battering Harbinger away just long enough...

Netflix Takes Charge of Data Delivery

My understanding is they're building their own CDN based off of Backblaze's "open source" storage pod design: Backblaze Blog The data rates needed for streaming the kind of content Netflix do via P2P methods would be prohibitive, or at least would REALLY annoy people.

    The Defenestration of Erin Stout

Is this a Stardust reference? I'm sure it's a Stardust reference. If it is, I love you.
