Yep, a fair few of these people normally then go "I would happily pay to play Mario on my IPad or my PS4" as well, so its not that they dislike Nintendo, they just basically can't afford a WiiU or 3DS.

It's entirely possible some of them may be "discontinued" in the sense that they won't send out more to specific retailers. Retailers only have space for a limited amount of stock so they will likely rotate out what they send to retailers to avoid the issue of stocks of old characters meaning...
