Have we seen the end of the generational leap for consoles?

The last game to blow my mind beyond mere increases in graphical fidelity was Mario 64. Just controlling Mario and exploring his move set around the outskirts of the castle was more fun than 99% of anything else at the time in terms of gameplay. It was like the proverbial lid was blown off the...

Have we seen the end of the generational leap for consoles?

I think he means when people don?t have to wear a monstrosity on their heads and can jack in like the Matrix. Right know it?s still just too gimmicky, but at least they?ve made some bigger strides since Virtual Boy.

Have we seen the end of the generational leap for consoles?

You probably right. Without sounding too negative the next gen is likely to be the most boring and have games that virtually look identical to the previous gen unless you have a 4k comparison video and someone says 'well....the water and sky on the ps5 version looks a bit sharper than the ps4...

Have we seen the end of the generational leap for consoles?

Its does seems so. Technology, not just games have stalled, Smartphones are now all the same minimal upgrades each time and Tv's. It just seems there no innovations around the corner. AR might take off but not for ages.

Have we seen the end of the generational leap for consoles?

Law of diminishing returns applies heavily. Now it will be about advancing things like A.I., rendering realist damage systems involving physics, Ray Tracing, etc. Next gen might be even more of a jump than this last one was depending on what they do. Having said that, even this gen was a...

Have we seen the end of the generational leap for consoles?

Remember how big the leap was from SNES to ps1, it was Massive! 2D to 3D, the ps1 to ps2 Sharp 3d images and blockiness improved, PS2 to PS3 saw the dawn of HD gaming, PS3 to PS4, well...the same games but a bit sharper, PS4 to PS4 Pro...minimal differences slightly better resolution and frame...

Poll: Will you buy a PS5 or Xbox 'two'?

Never really answered the thread yet, but for me I?d get a PS5 once the inevitable redesign is established, mainly because Sony has outstanding exclusives and a healthier than average corporate philosophy towards game development. I think we?re still another generation away from consoles being...

Poll: Will you buy a PS5 or Xbox 'two'?

Jesus...did they all start gaming with Halo or something? I?d be more pissed to be hamstrung to a largely inferior gaming device; at least in terms of worthwhile software. Do they at least play games you like?

    Will you?

Are we heading for a AAA gaming crash?

Sequel after sequel remaster after remaster, how much longer can the industry continue this? I am pretty sure diminishing returns are setting in as well. Think of this SNES to psone, massive leap 3d graphics big differences Psone to ps2, big leap, sharper graphics more detailed, DVD format...

Are mobiles phones becoming more powerful than Games consoles?

The title of ?Most/More Powerful? matters less and less as time goes on, unless developers can adequately leverage the extra resources and yield something that can?t be achieved anywhere else. Outside of being mobile and having some trivial gyroscopic functionality, what have phones given us so...

Are mobiles phones becoming more powerful than Games consoles?

Here me out here before you call me an idiot. The Galaxy note 9 is infinitly more powerful than the Nintendo switch, in fact the galaxy note 8 and s8 were more powerful. Mobiles are released every year, do you think there will be a time, with the event of diminishing returns becoming more and...

Why the Nintendo Switch will Fail (and fail hard)

Third party support will be what gives it long term successs and a fond, collective look back in retrospect. Apparently there will be more of it than the Wii had, which is good because the Wii was ultimately a generation-long fad that relied on motion controls. It takes at least competent...

Why is Zelda BOTW Considered so amazing.

With the graphics thing, one only needs to go through a conditioning period to adjust to almost anything. For example, I went back to Dark Souls on PS3 after playing through a good chunk of Bloodborne and immediately felt the difference in not only visuals, but controls. It felt quite a bit...

Could someone please explain to me what the hell is wrong with Nintendo?

Sounds like he'd be good buds with Konami's CEO.
