The first 2 Harry Potter movies were the best imo.

I always thought they were better because the books were shorter and the kids hadn't entered the adolescent angst stage yet. Harry Potter is a good metaphor for teenage-hood, 11 to 12 everyone is still cute, 13 is still workable, 14 and 15 everyone falls off wagon and people start to calm...

Slowing down - Why we don't post like we used to...

I agreed with most of the posts here about growing older, caring less, not as interested in some of the topics here, wanting to avoid arguments and finally that GG certainly was a killer. Strangely enough, the only times I post is when there's to commiserate how everything has slowed down...

What have you recently been passionate about?

I'm just curious, since I have a bit of free time for the first time in a while, and would like to know what you've all been enjoying (except arguing on internet forums, that's a given). It doesn't have to be games either. Software, books, sports, anything goes.

I assume none of you remember me, but I remember most of you.

Better than the video I was planning to use in response to all the "I remember your face comments":

I assume none of you remember me, but I remember most of you.

Hmm, well the more things change the more they stay the same, I guess? I think everyone here takes some breaks, so welcome back.

This War of Mine failed in telling an anti war message

I have to disagree, since what you're proposing is slightly more heavy handed than what "This War of Mine" already is. It's a game where there is despair and helplessness, yes, but also survival even at the cost of doing some unethical things. Some people think the game is too heavy handed...

Does Shoujo anime also have its overused cliches?

Yes, although I won't elaborate on why I know. Try reading something called "Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun", since it's a show based on making fun of these cliches.

Which active forum member has been on the Escapist the longest?

Don't be sad, I remember you from somewhere. I think. I've been here for almost half a decade, and yet I don't feel as if I'm anywhere near one of the oldest. Could be due to my choice of sub-forum.

Hoping to start DMing this summer. Advice?

Backster's adivice is pretty good. I would like to add that more than anything else it's a team effort, and it's nice when everyone adds their little piece to the world's story.

Recommend me good "Medieval Era" movies?

The "Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco was a great book, and I think the movie should be good. Not to mention that they have Sean Connery in it!

REPORT: 12-Year-Old Financing ISIS Through Youtube Channel

We now know what we must do. The U.S has to do a pre-emptive strike against Sam's Mom's house! OT: Good stuff.

Don't worry Revnak. I'll make sure to loot the Club and bring any treasure I find. In fact...

    Is there a thread archive?

Hey, I hope this is the proper sub-forum for this. I was looking back at some posts when I noticed that some of the threads I've been looking for are gone, they aren't accessible and I'm just left with the 404:File not found page and I haven't found any success looking for it in the Internet...

    Bleaching of Great Barrier Reef

It doesn't really have anything to do with evolution, maybe more with ecosystem change. Coral reefs are a pretty big indicator of ecosystem health, so mass bleaching is not a natural phenomena, so I still think it's cause for alarm. While climate change is a natural phenomena, most estimates...
