I still don't see why it's such a huge deal for game retailers to give publishers a small cut of used games profits. In return, there could be even more deals cut between the two, like a goddamn symbiosis.

More room for those who actually subscribe to anonymity and it's culture to take over the world instead of those who pretend they are superheroes/supervillians.
But by not playing it, well, that wouldn't even get noticed at all. It's not like they're choking Valve's wallet or something. Valve could just chalk it up to a weekend where not as many people played Half-Life as they usually have.
