Seriously, I don't know what Valve was thinking with random crits. It really takes a lot of skill out of the game and I feel cheap whenever I get a kill with one.
TF2 - hats that don't fit the art style, weapons that feel really rushed, and bugs that have simply been ignored even though the game gets updated almost every week.
I saw this and wondered what the occasion was. Can't believe it's been a year on the Escapist already. Here's to many more Gav!
As a side note, it's kind of sad that the Episode 3 line is still relevant.
I bought a few games first day last year, but now I'll only buy games that I truly can't wait for and if I really support the developer. If I did that last year I would probably only buy inFamous 2 (great developer who never tries to nickel and dime you).
EDIT: To elaborate on why I rarely...
I've been waiting for the Mass Effects to go on sale on Steam (still don't own any of them) until I buy them. Then I'll probably buy Mass Effect 3 for the XBox or PS3 since I don't want to use Origin.
When a friend asks you for help with a school assignment don't show them your own work as an example.
And even though it's been said before: if you lend money to your friend, be prepared to lose that money or that friend.
Loved your article, your responses are as witty as always. I actually think that video games have given people a shorter attention span since they are so used to instant gratification/results.
Love this song. It really captures how sudden and inevitable death is in this game. Also love this part:
Look to the sun's rays
Behold and offer praise
Look to the sun's rays
Comfort in the glow
To me it just gives the feeling of desperation that you sometimes feel when playing this...
I was told it was like TV, but you could control it. How would that NOT make anyone a gamer back in the nineties? This was amplified by the fact that I was into Pokemon at the time and when I discovered the video games I was instantly hooked.
The PC version is fine, the loading times aren't as long and the ability to hold four weapons at once is nice. It is definitely worth a good laugh if you can appreciate how bad it is behind its many flaws.
EDIT: I guess I should add that I only ever found out about Duke Nukem Forever a year...
Great video, couldn't agree more. I actually have to set aside time to "pre-play" my games as I call it. I make sure to set everything up half an hour before I can play in order to get all the installs completed by the time I'm actually able to play.
