127: What?s Actually Good (In Comics)

This article mentions a few decent authors, who will be very difficult to find in one of the few surviving comics shops in the country. It totally ignores anything from smaller publishers, or from outside the US borders. This is like a general article about games that only covers RPGs produced...

The worst game you have ever played.

Deadly Towers, for the NES. Your enemies were either things like puddles or other bigheaded things that spawned and moved randomly. When you took damage, you involuntarily moved backwards, which means you could get damaged again, and again, and so on until you died. No other NES game...

Next Double Fine game: Brutal Legend

From Tim Schafer, the man behind Psychonauts and other good games: -- link redacted, after reading this on the Double Fine site: "Posting a leak ... on our forums, or even promoting someone else's leak, puts us in violation of our publishing contract and could get us in big trouble."...

    Halo 3 First Impressions

I get the feeling that in terms of story, Halo is the same story from Bungie's Marathon games, repeated. I would imagine the creators are really, really ready to think of something else now.

    The Escapist Game Circle: Psychonauts

Oh, to squeeze in a last comment before the end of the month: there's something psychological about the end of the game, which I'll describe hopefully without spoilers - the power you have in the final battle is suspiciously representative of a transition to adulthood. And: they cover...

Psychonauts and the Tragedy of Used Games

Well, yes. I've seen a lot of (usually independent) music stores who buy back CDs and then resell them. Also: houses, cars, books, and computers are all sold, new and used, by the same people. (Imagine the next sentence being spoken with an echo effect) This is why digital distribution...

    The Escapist Game Circle: Psychonauts

I didn't feel that the overall story was weak because there were so many substories within the game. It does a good job of having the extra plot, without burdening the player. Raz's story was one of many, and he just happened to be the lead character in terms of action. I'm playing the game...

    Zero Punctuation: Psychonauts

Funny. Humor is best when completely accidental.

    The Escapist Game Circle: Psychonauts

Aw - the Double Fine website's been changed, so the comics are now elsewhere: http://www.doublefine.com/news.php/comics There's in fact a lot of new things on the website...

    The Escapist Game Circle: Psychonauts

Oh, and another thing, for anyone who hasn't seen it: Double Fine, the people who made Psychonauts, have regular comics on their website drawn by staff: http://www.doublefine.com/comics/main_comic.html Scott Campbell, one of the cartoonists, was definitely involved in Psychonauts just...

    The Escapist Game Circle: Psychonauts

I found the end very frustrating, but I did get past it eventually. I picked it up off of Steam a month or two ago. It's possibly one of my favorite games ever, because it's so complete in terms of defining a real world. The Goggalor level is the one that cemented it for me - it's like...
