Edit - Looks like someone posted a topic on this right when I was typing this up, so feel free to merge these posts if you feel like it forum admin. EA is actually doing just that on this subject hehe.

Forgive me if there is already a thread about this, but I have been reading the SC threads daily for a week prior to launch and then daily post launch. I wanted to spread the word about this as to try to keep EA from "fixing" the work being done to give people the features they wanted...

The problem here is that people seem to think they OWN the game. They do indeed possess a cartridge or a DVD or what ever the medium happens to be at the time. However, you are actually purchasing the right to USE the software. Just like I mentioned in another reply, it is like a house plan...

Thing is, if they go to a web validation system, you can't really hack the game. The game would have to get a unique identifier for each copy. And then when you run the game after the first install, it would be able to tell which console it was in, the code would only work once for that...

IDK if someone already mentioned this. But if you played Fallout 2, and liked it. Someone modded it to be an MMO, of sorts. You could get a random encounter from other players which was usually the end of you. Just like any game with PvP, they never want a fair fight, it is all about maxing...

The key word is COULD... not everyone can buy every new game all the time. They WISH they could, but they can't.

Well that is the irony, technically you couldn't play online with a pirated game, no matter what you did to the console. But you are right in one way, if you make it impossible to sell the game, then people will not be as willing to want to buy the game, but they still will want to play it, so...

I totally agree with what you said. I mean, I applaud them in trying to get rid of some of the pirating so that the costs to make games go down, so perhaps the cost to buy them will go down. But if you are faced with no resale value, many people are going to shy away from buying new games that...
