Zero Punctuation: Spec Ops: The Line

The moment Yahtzee first wheeled out the farting noises gag, I paused the video and said "This episode shall end with deep, serious analysis, and then another fart noise" And lo was it so.

    The Big Picture: Shell Shock

I hate to say this, but for the first time watching this show, I found myself asking the question "So What?" I'm not saying this episode didn't make some good points, but I never heard anything that I'll be taking with me after I leave the computer. This episode was pretty much just fluff, in...

    Book recommendations. (with one rule)

American Gods by Neil Gaiman. If you want a self-contained story that leaves you satisfied, that would be it. Oh, and if you would be open to a "kiddie" book with some surprisingly deep themes and a neat view of the future, The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm.

Namco Bandai won't be bringing the .hack games overseas now.

NO PLEASE NO LET THIS BE A JOKE. I will do anything to get these games released state-side. Just let me know what you want me to do.

Poll: Anyone else hate the Skyrim animal races?

I just can't bring myself to play as a cat-man or a lizard-man. It would break all sense of immersion for me. I'm Dutch and English; no part of my family tree was a cat or lizard. So I'd just feel like I was pretending to be my character, instead of actually BEING my character.

Why didn't YOU play Mass Effect?

I'm sure there are some of us here who are unaffected by the recent ME3 release; who don't care that the ending leaves something to be desired; who don't know or care what a Reaper is, or what the Illusive Man has been up to this whole time. The question is: Why don't we care? In my case...

    Journey Review

They can actually make games for other platforms now; Journey was the last game in a 3-game contract with Sony. So Journey probably won't ever be on XBLA, Steam, or PC, but thatgamecompany's later games very could well be.

    Journey Review

If the player LogansBaby from the PSN is reading this, I'd just like to thank you for making my first playthrough of this game so memorable. I'll always remember it.

Why do you not believe the indoctrination theory? *Major Spoilers*

I don't play the Mass Effect games, but after talking to my friends who do, it seems what most fans are upset about is that all of the endings take place in the same place, with you just pulling lever one, two, or three to decide which ending you want. Even if there is a vast explanation for the...

Games for a Video Game Storytelling Class?

I recommend Hotel Dusk: Room 215, if only as an example of creating strong, compelling characters that you come to care about over the course of the game. Louis DeNono in particular is a fine example of how to execute a fantastic character arc.

Best weapon in Fallout new vegas?

Once my Guns skill gets to 100, you'd be hard-pressed to pull me away from my riot shotgun.

    Games that were Almost Great

I really wish my friends would put as much thought into why they like or dislike things as you did. It would make gaming discussions so much more interesting.

    Games that were Almost Great

I say Infamous (the first one). Interesting story, great sandbox, hours of fun to explore and run around in, even fun combat. but the controls just make everything a bit clunky, which leads to some frustrating deaths that you really should have been able to avoid.

Is there a dev company whose games you will play, no questions asked?

Not the dev company per se, but any game bearing the Kingdom Hearts logo I will purchase and play.

    Your favorite Dragon Quest/Warrior

3 for the GameBoy Color because I hit a glitch that shot my Hero from level 33 to level 99 instantly. It really opened the game up for exploration for me, since now I had a character who could kill basically anything without much difficulty.
