No Star Trek Online for Consoles

Honestly, whilst I'm in no rush to invest time in a console MMO when I could be obsessively restarting my first ball on high-score Pinball FX2 runs, I really don't understand the business model argument. How does it make better sense to go for an over-saturated PC market, filled with...

No Right Answer: Best Western Film Ever

For me I'd pick Once Upon a Time in the West though I've a lot of love for Django and Winchester '73. But given the theme of defending terrible choices I guess I'd go Jonah Hex... go on, defend that pile of terrible ;)

    Your "giant panda" of gaming.

Metroidvania is the term I most hear banded about, which works pretty well :)

    Your "giant panda" of gaming.

Another vote for space combat games from me. Ever since I saw Star Wars as a kid I've loved everything from Wing Commander through Rogue Squadron, T-Fighter, all of them. I'm honestly at my happiest stat watching the stars, figuring out my new weapon upgrades and preparing for the Alien's to...

Analyst Calls The Old Republic a "WoW Clone"

God, just realised how much this discussion reminds me of the Extra Credits about MMOs - http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/extra-credits/1906-The-Future-of-MMOs

    Games you'll forgive...

Thanks for the replies everyone - thinking I'm going to be checking out Alpha Protocol and Way of the Samurai 3 soon as. Should be interesting to see if the flaws are too much to bear :)

Jade Empire I enjoyed as well. I still can't figure out who on Earth thought those shooter (and if you haven't played it I mean proper vertical scrolling, button-mashing arcade shooter bits) sections fitted into an RPG. Mind you, I'm also a sucker for Arena/Gladiatorial sections in games and...

I was always surprised they didn't do more with the possibilities of user generated content with Mirrors Edge. I guess once the writing was on the wall the interest in making the most of it just drifted away. Real shame, could have been something amazing in the end... mind you that is kinda the...

Loved the feel of Mirrors Edge - really did have the experience of doing something different. Those cut scenes were really strange though and the story didn't feel like it carried though. But the rush of getting the movement right, the sense of speed and (somewhat limited) freedom was great.

    Games you'll forgive...

Funny you mention that, I was playing the Alpha Protocol demo on OnLive and it really scratched an itch for a spy game - even with some of the obvious problems. Might give it a proper go around once I finish Metro 2033. And Far Cry 2 really dragged me in as well, though I could have done...

    Games you'll forgive...

Having just blown my way through a new credit card I'm back playing console games. I'm catching up on some old releases and it got me thinking. What are some of the games that in general might have bad reviews, broken mechanics, gameplay issues or are bug riddled that you still love? I'm...

Analyst Calls The Old Republic a "WoW Clone"

To be honest, I don't like Wow but I do like the idea of a massive, shared, online gaming experience. I also, though it's increasingly difficult in recent years, love the tone and feel of Star Wars, I spent long enough playing the damn pen and paper RPG. Whilst I'd love to be able to give...
