    Should women strength train? Yup

I cut ten minutes off my half marathon time by ditching running. Instead I did a little bit of sprinting, some strongman routines and barbell complexes. I also did a lot of circuit training. Of course I was never a great runner.

I can't get motivated and following other people's tips doesn't work

Unless you have an actual disorder, you can't get motivated because you choose not to be. You don't give a shit because you choose not to give a shit. Being motivated isn't a trick or a magical gift. It is an act of doing. I was like this once as well. The best thing to do is get honest with...

Strength training isn't about looking good to most people. You're confusing strength training with bodybuilding. I'm am curious about your ambitious life. Apparently you don't have a spare moment in the day as every moment is filled with only really important things. I would say vain people have...

Of course its not a path unto itself. Its training; a tool to help you live better. I would say its much more than just acceptance within a community though that is true as well. The point of learning is not just the act of learning. It's gaining knowledge and applying that knowledge to your...

nope but you will very likely have heart problems if you're obese. I don't know where you heard this but it is very silly.

Strength training can certainly be a means to self actualising. The ability to achieve and set goals is exactly what strength training incorporates. For a lot of people strength training can almost be a spiritual experience, pushing yourself beyond what you thought you could do. Strength...

I'm glad you found something that you enjoy. The exercise bike would be both cardiovascular and muscular endurance. When I talk about strength training I'm mostly referring to compound barbell movements though that is by no means the only way to strength train.

Keeping the weight off is not the same thing as staying fit. Strength is at least as important as cardiovascular health. I would even say that it should be the foundation that cardiovascular health is built on. A woman who strength trains in not likely to get bulky and she certainly won't get...

I would argue the opposite and I always encourage people to stop using the treadmill. Its a giant waste of time and mind numbingly boring. If some one genuinely enjoyed the treadmill I wouldn't say anything but I've never met this person. Most people hate the treadmill that's why they don't...

Strength and size aren't necessarily the same thing.

I don't believe that pure cardio and proper nutrition on their own are just as good as strength training. Obviously proper nutrition is foundational to good health and cardio is great but cardio with out strength training to supplement it is problematic. Cardio doesn't help prevent injuries and...

    Should women strength train? Yup

Proper mobility work is a very important part of any strength program. Olympic lifters have excellent mobility and lack of mobility can hinder strength gains. An example would be you need good hip flexor and ankle mobility to perform a good high bar squat to depth. You need good wrist...

    Should women strength train? Yup

Of course most Americans should strength train. The issue is that by a larger percentage women concentrate on cardio while neglecting strength training because strength training is viewed as masculine which is why I mentioned them specifically.
