I read the Life of Pi a few years ago when it first came out and don't remember Pi being that annoying, but do remember it being a bit "pretentious" in a similar way as Bob describes. I really enjoyed that review btw (have not seen movie) so way to go Bob!

Actually i LOVED The Host as a book. yes the writing is annoying and slow like usual, but i loved the ideas in it and thought it was a very interesting plot. I think it was much too smart for twilight fans and non twilight fans didn't read it which is why no one seemingly liked it. But yah...

Here's how i see it. Modern nerds are somehow becoming attractive to women: possibly because they are often IT or programer guys and have higher earning potential (or something) and women are starting to find them attractive. And they, in tern find women who share their interests attractive...

Just saw it. Not a bad movie. but a bit too cuddly/kid friendly for my taste. Maybe it was all the endless pink which i was not expecting.

Kinda felt like you were reaching a bit on some of those criticisms frankly. The random guards and such say some rather nice things and are def. not cardboard cut out evil. The heading back to home base was also a lot less annoying then it is in many games and I thought it was done rather well...

Going to say this yet again: you def. CAN market a movie as something and have that something be most of the movie and yet have the movie with a message against it. For another example (perhaps a better made one) see Cabin In the Woods. Which is marketed to horror fans, is full of horror and...

I really really hate when a single book gets cut up into a few movies. I like that more will be included in The Hobbit. but i really wish they would just make three parts and release them all at once so that people could choose to go see all three in one day, or one a week or whatever instead of...
