First person shooters with engaging/emotional stories

I dunno, they can be pretty emotional. Maybe not necessarily for the main character and in a traditional sense, but they certainly evoke a mood and emotion that a lot of other post-apocalyptic vidya games ultimately fail to. Deus Ex: Human Revolution also manages to have an engaging plot...

what are your top 10 games of all time? Name one game per franchise

    1. DOOM (1993): This is still, to me, the perfect shooter. Infinitely replayable and tons of fun. I love its community to death. Plus I have fond memories as my dad & I bonded over this game when I was a young girl. It's my go to "Pick up and play at any time" game. The first one wins out over...

Games you never get tired of

The original Doom & Doom II. Been playing them reliably since release. Helps that the community never gives up on it and constantly makes new maps and weird gameplay mods.

Who should Disney trust with Star Wars if they drop EA?

*Ahem* OBSIDIAN. RAVEN. Peeps who have made good Star Wars games before.

Truly BAD Media You 'Should' Like:

Assassin's Creed II for me. I was drawn by the setting. I have kind of an adoration for Renaissance Italy, people like Da Vinci, Machiavelli, the Borgias... so when I heard they were all in there and you could run around Italy and you could even have people speaking Italian, I was like "Hell...

    The return of F.L.C.L.

We'll see. I kinda feel FLCL wrapped up nicely with a neat little bow on top. As neat as such a weird series could do, anyways. Also, I'm actually kind of sick of The Pillows at this point. Haven't evolved their sound a bit in a long, long time.

    Great Movie Sound Tracks

Basically anything Joe Hisaishi, but especially the Mononoke soundtrack (Though maybe I'm biased since that's my favourite film.) And on the topic of Japanese film composers, I also really dig Kawai's weird orchestral/electronic/classic Japanese chant music thing. Out of the realm...

What are you guys listening to?

Been listening to SleepDealer as of late. A pretty solid Russian Post Rock band. Like a lot of Post, they're pretty sparse and low-fi, so I imagine they'd be quite the acquired taste. But I dig this sort of thing.

Rebellion Announces it is Working on Evil Genius 2

I dunno. I loved the first one, but I'm always skeptical when it is so late in the game and we are talking about a developer with a pretty miss-laden track record. But I'll give it a shot. The first one was fun for its time and if they succeed in continuing with its fun setting and sense of...

Far Cry 5 Teaser Trailer Welcomes You to Hope, Montana

It's gunna take a lot more than a potentially interesting setting to get my hopes up. I also feel that the "Evil Christian Cult sect" is a bit... old at this point. It's low hanging fruit now. If the game actually tries to revitalize it a bit like Far Cry 3 did, maybe it could work - but...

Poll: Which is more deserve to be Called System shock Spritual successor? Prey or Bioshock?

Narratively? BioShock wins. It actually has interesting characters, ideas, and themes. Prey does have interest ideas but they get very muddled in the end, and a lot of it just feels derivative. In terms of everything else? Prey. Prey all the way. Prey has more of the actual mechanical...

Poll: Game Soundtracks You Consider Perfect

Pretty much all of Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill albums. There's something I find soothing and intoxicating about his style, and Silent Hill 2 and 3 are among my favourite albums of all time regardless of originating from a Video Game of all places. The Witchers soundtracks are also amazing.

Diablo 2 Gets First Patch in 4 Years

Y'know, any developer that is willing to continue supporting and patching their games well over a decade later deserves kudos. Double for patching it to work on modern operating systems. That shows they truly care about the quality of their products past, present, and future.

Crimson Peak - A Gothic Horror/Romance from a Visual Master

I honestly didn't care for Crimson Peak much. It's definitely a big disappointment. It's not necessarily an awful or even all that bad film, it is pretty and it is wonderfully acted, but there's nothing to it and I couldn't find myself invested in it. It also felt inconsistent, unsure whether...
