I think the OP summed up my feelings about the game nicely. Overall, I was disappointed with DA:I for the same reason I was disappointed with the first Mass Effect: gems of brilliance smothered by tedious bullshit. DA:I just cranked it up to another level.

Fallout. Skyrim. Witcher. Every 4X game I try to play. Hell, right now I've got a 2 day Stellaris match going where I'm just rolling on people and I simultaneously want to finish it in order to justify the two long days of playing but I also really just want it to stop. 4X games are empty...

So the question becomes....what Civ 5 civs would you recommend for this? I didn't play a whole lot of Civ 5 because it's such a time suck, but I might have some time for a 4X in my life here soon.

Actually, it lets your wife know that this is not a permanent situation should the quality of the relationship begin to suffer. It keeps her on her toes and she puts out that little extra effort.
