Between Saints Row 3 and 4, which is better?

I really liked 3, but wasn't a big fan of 4. The superpower stuff is fun for a while, but it gets old. Because you don't have the difference between the driving and shooting parts anymore, the gameplay gets repetitive much quicker. And the normal gameplay is so over the top already, it's like a...

    Card tricks/shuffling techniques

I love card tricks. I know some easy tricks, and I've practiced some techniques like double lifts, fake cuts, card forces, Elmsley count, etc. I'm still not great with them, though. I only really care about card tricks that can be done with minimal or no preparation, and without any gimmick...

Poll: Let's talk about Telltale's The Walking Dead (Spoiler Alert! S1 & S2)

I don't think the illusion of choice worked quite as well in S2 as it did in S1. Maybe it was just that I had already seen the trick once before so it was more obvious what they were doing. Still, I really liked it, and the ending of S2 was especially good. It ended pretty much exactly how I...

Pathologic Brings High Concept Horror to the Open World

I'm really looking forward to this. The original Pathologic is one of my favourite games of all time. It was really interesting how it wasn't a scary horror game, it was just oppressive and exhausting to play. The horror part comes from the fact that you're constantly getting closer and...

    Help me find an anime

Little Witch Academia is a really good one and it matches all three of your criteria. It's just one 25 min short film (although they are making a second one), but it's one of the best examples of children's animation I've seen in a while. It's really nicely animated, and the characters are...

Games no one else has played but you

Expeditions: Conquistador. It's a kind of tactical RPG with some survival elements and a pretty unique setting. The overworld part plays a bit like Heroes of Might and Magic, where you have a certain movement allowance each day, you can collect supplies from the map, and encounter enemies...

What are your favorite board/card games?

High Frontier is my all time favourite board game. It's a heavy rocket engineering / space exploration simulation, where you are trying to prospect the different moons and asteroids in the solar system and then use the resources you find to build ET factories. It's a really unique game, because...

Care to recommend a Single-Player Timesink Game?

How about Elona? It's free, first of all, so even if you end up not liking it, you won't lose anything for trying it out. To save you a Google search, you can download it from here. It's a light roguelike that has a very clear graphic style, and a pretty nice and simple interface (no need to...

XCom: The Board Game Needs You, Commander

Using the app is a cool idea and I like real time elements in games, like in Space Alert for example. And I'm not even that worried about not being able to play 10 or 20 years from now because the app might not be supported anymore. However, what I am worried about is not being able to play the...

Taking On "Detrimental" Isometric Game Design

Well, I feel like nitpicking a little, so here goes: Most games that people call "isometric" aren't isometric at all. They are usually using a dimetric projection, sometimes trimetric (Fallout 1&2) or some sort of oblique projection (Ultima 6&7). But I guess the usual 2:1 perspective is close...

    Gaming Cardinal Sins

I thought the parrying system was really good. Instead of being able to hide behind a block button, you have to actively parry the attacks. Even your dodge move is actually an attack, so there's not really any purely defensive moves in the game. It gave the combat a very active and aggressive...

Magic in oblivion and skyrim-Which was better for pure mages?

I would put the fault on the side of badly written lore. I guess we are looking for different things in our Elder Scrolls games. You seem to appreciate the lore more, I think it's nonsense so I just focus on what the game lets me do.

Magic in oblivion and skyrim-Which was better for pure mages?

If the game mechanics contradict the lore, there's a problem somewhere. But really, does it even matter? The Elder Scrolls lore is pretty messed up anyway. Like how all of the different mutually exclusive endings of Daggerfall are considered canon. And like you said, pausing and the creation kit.

Magic in oblivion and skyrim-Which was better for pure mages?

They clearly had the tools right there in the mages guild the whole time. It's their own fault they never realised you can combine a stack of 100% weakness to magic with a 1 second drain life. I have spells like that because I bothered to experiment and do some research insted or repeating the...

Magic in oblivion and skyrim-Which was better for pure mages?

No I like challenge and difficulty. I also like overcoming that challenge in interesting and creative ways, and there's challenge in coming up with these crazy combinations in the first place. I don't think overpowered spell combinations break the ability to role-play either. I could be...
