right ive had this problem and fixed it. im running a cable connection through my linkseys wrt54gs router n took me a day to fix. go to router settings n forward port 3074 ,28960 udp and 28960 tcp. make sure if u have windows xp MAKE SURE u disable the DHCP client in ur services this is a must...
