British sniper kills 2 insurgents from a mile and half away

ColdStorage, please think about what you just said for a few minutes. It is truly one of the most ridiculous things that I have ever read.

Avatar, and my one real problem with it.

You'd be hard pressed to say that the 3D effects weren't "something new." They invented a number of new camera systems specifically for this movie. Since its overwhelming success, 3D television sets and gaming have taken off. It is ushering in a new era of technology. As far as its quality...

    Impossible (to beat) DRM

So it's not that bad because piracy rates were only 80% rather than 90%? I'm sure that makes them sleep better at night. Incidentally, I tried to follow your link because I was curious what was the argument for piracy. I got this message... Obviously, not everyone is thrilled with piracy.

    Impossible (to beat) DRM

We used the same article as a counter-example to the same person. **Internet Hi-Five** I read what you said earlier about the copyright/patent system. I agree with you in that the practice of using patents as a weapon to preemptively own someone else's technology is a deplorable business...

    Impossible (to beat) DRM

*puts on computer nerd hat* Actually, there is some part of the Mac architecture that makes it more secure than your average PC. It's called UNIX. But you are right in part... it's a smaller market share, so virus writers won't bother until more people own Macs. *takes off computer nerd...

Escape to the Movies: Hot Tub Time Machine

Bob, I will admit that that when you mentioned that Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried would be doing the nasty in a movie, I dropped my sandwich and said aloud (to my computer), "What?!" I was more than a little freaked out when you then respond, "No, seriously. They totally do" after the...

EA Sports Jumping On "Project Ten Dollar" Bandwagon

I don't buy Madden games ;-) EA might not be the evil Goliath of the game industry that they were, but if they can sell a game for $60, they sure aren't going to give it us for $20.

EA Sports Jumping On "Project Ten Dollar" Bandwagon

That would be nice, but I don't see that being the plan. There is too much money to be had, even with declining sales, to just get $10 per year, per customer. If they aren't going to get you with a $60 disc, they might just swap that out for a yearly/monthly fee to play online. That sounds...

EA Sports Jumping On "Project Ten Dollar" Bandwagon

As I was reading the article, I was wondering how far into the thread we would get before someone brought up that quote. There isn't really any way to sugarcoat it, he just wants to sell you something (or probably a lot of somethings). At least Moore is straightforward about it. I appreciate...

EA Isn't Trying to Blackmail You

This made me cry tears of joy for the beauty of it. Brevity is indeed the soul of wit.

Ragequitting to deny someone a victory

The spirit of the game is Modern Warfare, not Knife Fight Extravaganza. And when they can teleport across a room (during which time they are invincible to gunfire) to plant a combat knife in you, yes the do have an advantage. A knife is a one hit kill, regardless of angle of attack or range...

Ragequitting to deny someone a victory

Yes, I do. I feel that playing with those "tactics" (can you hear the ire?) is contrary to the spirit of the game. If someone wants to run around and stab people, they should play Assassin's Creed, not Call of Duty. Plus, the mechanics with the knife+Commando are broken. As for the...

Ragequitting to deny someone a victory

But if you had to go somewhere, why would not being able to play for 5 minutes be a problem?

Ragequitting to deny someone a victory

Exactly. If a team is playing a cheap game, like using the unholy trinity of Marathon/Lightweight/Commando, grenade spamming, or glitching in MW2, I see no reason to play to the end just to give them the satisfaction of a victory that wasn't earned. I want it to be empty, meaningless, and hollow.

Treyarch's Vietnam Call of Duty Confirmed
