I don't think the health itself that carries over. It looks more like hits themselves carry over. After watching Jim's stream of the game, he fell well to -9998% health with a mine, but never less than -5% with a zombie. He lost the most health on respawn when *multiple* zombies with mobbing...
Having just watched the episode, I cannot see initially where the scene would have taken place. If that is the case, then it wasn't very integral to the plot and cutting it was probably the right thing, regardless of the sensitivity of the beheadings.
I would at this point recommend a game that is very very like XCOM called Target:Earth [http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/75333/target-earth]. I have had a lot of fun with that game, and you can probably get that one cheaper than you will able to get XCOM, and be "cooler" for have the...

Given I find neither game more than an amusing 15 minute distraction, the teams outrage falls a liitle deaf. It certainly doesn't feel like months and years of work.
"Free and fair" and "illegal" are too entirely different things. The American declaration of independence was illegal, as was the French resistance during WWII, that does not make either of them unfair or unjust.
(Not that I am saying the election was free and fair, but one does not follow...
Thanks for the review, looks like an interesting game, but if I may offer one small opinion on the review as a whole.
Not mentioning the genre of the game until paragraph 6 made it very difficult to appreciate the previous paragraphs while reading them. If I have no idea what the gameplay is...
Everyone gets cool stuff and I get Stanley, from The Stanley Parable. He seems slightly less cool than Batman somehow.
Hopefully I won't be subjected to all the stuff I made Stanley do.
