The grayscale buttons are the deterrer for me; my dad can't play the 360 because he's yet to memorize the locations of the buttons by name, only color. Plus, he's colorblind, but I'm fairly certain the lack of color would still interfere.

It depends on whether your Macbook has an Intel Processor or a PowerPC. Steam for Mac only works with Intel. If your mac was bought within the last 3 or so years, you should be fine.
