The year is ending...what's your greatest accomplishment?

Either completing my Masters degree or loosing 60 pounds...one of the two. It really ought to be the Masters without question, but I've been overweight since high school; finally being a healthy weight feels like a really big accomplishment.

Poll: Star Wars The Old Republic: Which side do you choose?

I know you're not supposed to, but I'm sure I'll eventually end up playing as both. (I'm not going to lie, I have a certain desire to play as pretty much every class in the game, given that they each offer a unique story). But I'll start with Republic...I'm too much of a softy to play a bad...

What's that one magic thing a game has to have to get your attention?

Hot blue alien women? No, seriously, a compelling story and characters. I can tolerate just about anything in a game being sub par if the story or the characters suck me in.

Skyrim Beaten In Just Over Two Hours

Yeah, I guess you have a point. Still feels wrong though. :)

Skyrim Beaten In Just Over Two Hours

Why would anyone try to beat the game that fast? Isn't the whole point of a Bethesda style game to explore the terrain, find hidden secret stories told through the environment and experience the rich expanse of side quests and adventures to be had that have nothing to do with the main quest? I...

Anybody else noticed how depressing the atmosphere is on the Escapist forums?

OP, I actually couldn't agree with you more. Notice how low my post count is and take into consideration the fact that I've been coming to the Escapist for years now. I'm actually on here pretty much every day, not just occasional visits. The simple reason for this is that 80% of the time...

Faster than the speed of light

Wow, AP has really stepped up its game since last I knew. Then again, my high school didn't have any AP classes, and the only schools that I've taught in didn't have an AP course either. I just assumed that it was a calculus based newtonian curriculum, but I guess it does make sense that...

Faster than the speed of light

Yeah, sorry to let you in on the secret, but most physics that is taught in high schools has been known to (essentially) be a lie for decades. Relativity and quantum mechanics blow most of the newtonian stuff away in the first paragraph or so of advanced physics texts books. They really just...

Sorry you don't look enough like yourself to be in the movie

Ok, I'm totally in agreement that Seth Green should play Joker, simply because of his voice, but I have to disagree in one point. I really don't think that Joker was modeled to LOOK like Seth Green. I mean, I don't think it's a valid reason for them not to cast him in the role, but they're...

In the event of a deadly viral (zombie-ish) outbreak like in 28 Days later, what would you do?

...is it bad that the first thing that came to mind was: "get eaten." Seriously, though, probably stock up on food and guns/ammo and try to make it to a really desolate area: the mountains, a desert...something like that.

    Star trek: Enterprise

I've only recently watched it. I attempted to watch it when it originally aired, but couldn't because it was on UPN and I've never gotten that channel in the area where I live. It just isn't on cable or regular television here...which I understand is strange to most people. Anyway, what I...

Poll: Does Commander Shepard have to die in Mass Effect 3?

I'd almost have to say that Shepard shouldn't die in ME3. I mean...he already died in ME2. If you kill then resurrect a character, then killing them again just doesn't seem to have the same meaning anymore..

The reason why people hate Obsidian Entertainment

Personally, I think Obsidian is better story teller (in some ways) than Bethesda and Bioware. In fact, the only problem I have with their games is that they often come off as unfinished (not always through any fault of their own, mind you). Ultimately, I love all three companies, and I think...

    Poll: Favourite/Best Bill Murray Movie

I don't really think it's my "favorite" but in the interest of mentioning another movie that (at least when I'm writing this) hasn't been mentioned yet, I'm going to say "What about Bob." Extremely funny movie. Richard Dreyfuss as the "straight man" to Murray's lunatic is a perfect combo.

    Where's the love for FFIX?

Final Fantasy IX was the first final fantasy that I ever played, in fact it was probably the first heavily story-centric game that I ever played, for that matter, which is now the most important quality of a game for me. Because of that, it will always have a special place in my heart. It also...
