Probably 4 or Tactics. 4 was the second Final Fantasy game I played, Tactics was just incredible from a music an plot standpoint. The gameplay was fresh too.
Breath of Fire 4 (PS1)
Illusions of Gaia (SNES)
Kid Icarus (NES)
Dynamite Headdy (Genesis)
Lufia and the Fortress of Doom (SNES)
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (Gameboy)
Low G Man (NES)
FF1 is a great place to start. I own it on the NES and still play through it every year or so. The thing about Final Fantasy is that (most of the time) all of the stories are independent of each other. So in light of this, I would recommend starting with either FF1 or FF4.
I have no problem with open carry. I like guns and feel that you should be able to arm yourself if you feel the need and there are definitely places in America where you need to do so.
I'm not going to have a gravestone, I'm going to be interred in a miniature pyramid so I want hieroglyphics of my life and exploits carved or painted on the inner walls.
Most Final Fantasy titles followed the same formula until the abortion that was 12 came out. FF12 was the first game I found myself playing through "just to get it over with" since Star Ocean: Til the End of Time.
