True, but if you can't trade between save files without an intermediary, such as in your hypothetical example, it's a moot point. If you had access to multiple DS's and copies of the game already, you could cheat the same way on a separate cartridge. With legendaries (and eevee) combined...

This has been proposed before. Nintendo does not want to fix the series. Why do the games on a DS still only have one save slot? Why do versions still exist when the data can easily be fit on a single cartridge. Nintendo is perfectly happy with the money printing formula they have.

"Could" being an incredibly key word here. Depends largely on casting, script, budget, tone, and all the other things that make a good movie. Keanu Reeves as Spike is the only casting decision they have nailed down yet, and it could....work...maybe....
