The money as XP thing was used well in Dark Souls since souls were used as currency, but also to upgrade your stats.

It's interesting to notice Zadornov's mechanical hand being used by Snake at the end of the trailer.

DA2 was good, but had issues. ME3 was amazing except for the ending. They did make Sonic Chronicles though, which was a bad game.
