Editor's Note: Connecting the Dots for Fun and Profit

I was hopeful, but I see that the features/articles page is dead after all. I feel as though the site has been ruined. Goodbye.

Editor's Note: Connecting the Dots for Fun and Profit

I can understand the change. The weekly issue was looking pretty thin at times. I still love the articles, but the frustrating thing for me is that I can't find them. I rarely read anything else on the Escapist and almost never watch any of the videos. Now I feel buried in content that...

    Over Gaming

Agreed. There's no point fighting it. Sometimes the desire is there and sometimes it's not. There are too many other things to enjoy in life. Often, when I think I'm done with gaming, I find something new in it and I'm suddenly back in it again. It goes the other way too, I'll be deep into a...

    Over Gaming

The article provides a great description of immersion but, to my mind, it doesn't provide a satisfying explanation for why people grow bored of gaming. Tastes change as we get older, but there must be more to it than that. Maybe I shouldn't criticize because I've given the issue a lot of...

Mafia II is Not a Game

Interesting discussion Russ. Hope the Escapist doesn't stop publishing stuff like this because of a bit of negative feedback. There are lots of us that like it.

    Editor's Note: e-volution

I very much love the pdf. Some of the borders of the pictures were not transparent in Mac OS X's Preview, but it looks absolutely beautiful on my PC. Lots of nostalgia for the old days. Cheers!

    Braid Cost $200,000 To Make

Blow didn't pay himself a huge amount of money while playing the game. Spread over three years, that's $66,000 per year to share between himself and Hellman. There were likely some business expenses in there too. So, I'm guessing that he couldn't be living on more than $40,000 a year during...

    186: The Hardcore Persuasion

People's faces look very serious when they are reading too, but no one complains about it or thinks it strange. edit: I appreciate how the article captures the feeling of playing a game and why we find it engaging.

Braid Dev: Story-Based Games Are Bogus

I'm inclined to agree with Mr. Blow. I'm always looking for a good story and feel consistently let down. When I look at the games that I really love, it's all about the game-play.

Nintendo Bringing Wii Music to Schools

In my experience, Wii Music doesn't have much to do with making music, even less than Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

Gaming Made Simple: A Look at Nintendo

If you have to look at a walkthrough to complete the game, what difference does it make where you get it? Games shouldn't need walkthroughs, but most games aren't designed that way. I'm all for the existence of easy games, hard games, and everything in between.

Anthropologist Studying Culture of WoW Raiders

Obviously, it's cool to transform a gaming obsession into a book. That said, the book sounds like it will be genuinely interesting.
