I'd only upgrade early if it has backwards compatibility. That way, even if the launch titles turn out to be stinkers I can still play the games from the previous generation.

I would join in a heartbeat if The US were invaded. Other than that, not a chance. I said no because I wouldn't die for my country per se, but I would fight for it and put myself in danger for it and the people that live here if it were necessary.
